Well, frak. Doctor called (got the results early), and my first number was 50, second, after 48 hours, was 74. Not the end of the world, but not what you're looking for. She wants me to go in again Monday for another blood draw. She said it could be because it's so early, but I really felt like she was just trying to keep me calm and didn't mean it. Has anyone had numbers that were slow to rise but things ended well? This has been a crappy day.

I have no experience but try and relax, I know easier said than done. Do not google, that's my best advice because it will drive you crazy.

From what I googled, levels may need 72 hours to double. So maybe your rate is normal for that shorter window?

No advice, just wanted to say that I'll be thinking of you and try to stay calm! I had a mc and they knew by my numbers but they didn't get that high so I think it's probably just too early!

Thanks for the responses. And @Bao: I googled long enough to see a couple "my numbers rose slowly and my baby is fine" stories, and one stat that said the doubling every 48-72 hours is only in around 85% of pregnancies. I could be part of the 15%, right? Walked away after that. Don't need to obsess.

How far along are you - 4 weeks-ish?
ETA: also, was it a complete 48 hours in between?

@Torchwood: It's not like they only went from 58 to 60 you know? Not every pregnancy is the same!

I did! I am a longtime lurker but I had to post to try and be reassuring. I had a 236 but it was a Thursday and had to wait until Monday to test again. On the Monday, they should have quadrupled but they had barely doubled (it wound up being something like a 78 hour doubling time). I was devastated and doing the same googling you probably are. However on my follow- up beta they were (nearly) back on track and I am nursing my 11 week old baby as I type this. I really hope you get similar good news!
