Do you ever feel bad calling in because of the weather? I'm in sales and live 70km from our main office. Normally I go to the office only on Friday as my territory is the city where I live. We live in the snow belt and get a ton of snow (5-15cm today). I was supposed to go in today to be the "sales person on call" during the holidays. We got SO much snow and the roads are bad so I turned around.
I constantly feel bad though and think my boss is going to get mad. My husband told me it's not even work thinking about - it wasn't safe, I'm pregnant and I crashed last year trying to make it in on a snow day.
FWIW - I'm paid straight commission, so going in today is a complete waste of my time/gas money and totally pointless (the last two years I have done this day of coverage and not one issue/call came in that I had to deal with).
Would you have kept driving?
The boss is just such a jerk about it. And it's hard because all the sales reps (10 of us) are spread out over a big area. So sometimes it's brutal weather where I am (on the lake) and not so bad for others. Oh well! He can be mad. He's not even in the office today so hopefully he won't even find out I didn't come in
