My dh took a while to bond with DS. It took a good 6 weeks!

I expect this to be the case for us, but I don't actually care. Neither does DH.
I'll go back to work fairly early, so LO#2 will kind of necessarily get used to care from people who aren't me- including DH, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and eventually daycare providers, so I'm not really worrying about whether LO#2 will be ok being cared for by DH. And if DH doesn't really feel bonded to LO#2 at 6 weeks, or 12 weeks... I don't actually think it necessarily has any kind of longer-term repercussions. Eventually LO#2 will get more integrated into the family life, eating with us, playing with LO#1, talking, etc., and DH will bond with LO#2 through all that stuff. And by the time they're school age, I'm sure they'll have parental preferences that have zero to do with who they were most bonded to under age 1, you know?
I expect to have the primary role with LO#2 for as long as I'm BFing, probably a year, but after that, we're all about the equal split. (And we'll make a conscious effort to make sure that DH starts doing a lot more bedtimes and wake-ups with LO#2 once I'm done BFing, just like he did with LO#1).
