I come from a family of 5, and I have always wanted a big family. Pregnancy is really hard, though, so we decided not to have that many biological children (although we may adopt or foster in the future).

DH comes from a family of three, and that's the number what we're shooting for. I think that's a good number, and I'm not sure I'd want to be pregnant more than that, lol.

I have two siblings, and DH was an only. I think we will end up in the middle with 2, though if LO#2 is another girl, DH may push to try for a third. But for now we are enjoying the LO we have for a while!

I crave a huge family, but I come from a smaller one.

It's just me and my sister... and I'd be happy with 2, but DH comes from a family of 3 so he wants 3. I am open to 3, and he is open to 2... it really all depends on practical reasons now (whether we can afford it, how much we can handle with even 2 kids, etc.).

We'd rather live comfortably with 2 kids, than struggle with 3 kids. We love the idea of a big family though, especially since neither of us are very close to our extended families or have cousins our age.

I do. I have two siblings, and I'd love to have 3-4 kids. DH has 1 brother and he's always wanted 2. He's open to having 3 though..... and we'll just see what happens depending on finances. We'll see!

We aren't sure yet! Both from families of three... so sometimes we lean that way, but DH says 2 and I could probably just have 1! TIme will tell!

I come from three. I used to want three, but now I'd be fine with just one. FI and I were actually talking about this last night that he'd like to have two but we aren't even ready for the first one yet, so we'll see how it goes. I think 2 is a good number though.

I am also an only, and it also wasn't by choice for my parents because of medical reasons.
Much the same as @highwire I didn't learn to share or be selfless until I was older, and I had trouble becoming self-sufficient (ie waking up with an alarm, having to clean etc)

Despite the things I lacked, I have always dreamed of having one child. A girl. And guess what. I'm pregnant with a boy!

So now that I'm having a boy, I've changed my opinion of two kids. I'm going to try again for a girl.

Nope. My family had 2 kids, DH's had 3, we want at LEAST 3 but probably more.

I came from 6 kids and DH came from 5!! I do NOT want that many. Maybe half... I'm thinking 3.

I come from a big family (5) and loved having so many siblings so much, but I can't imagine parenting that many, not to mention the financials. Dh is one of 3, and wants 1-2 kids. I want 2-3, I think, realistically, so we've pretty much decided on 2. I absolutely want more than 1 though, because we both have such good relationships with our siblings that I definitely want (hope) our kids have that with each other. If money were truly no object (including maybe a part time nanny and a housekeeper!) I'd be inclined to want 4 but now, it would be too much.

ETA: Also, age-wise more than 2 might be pushing it, since we are both 31 and just started TTC. Not impossible, but harder than it we were mid twenties when we started.

I have 1, DH has 3 - we want at least 2, maybe 3. We both come from big families - my parents are one of 4 and 5 each, DH's parents are one of 5 and 6 each. We have 31 first cousins between us!

Me and my husband are each one of four and we both think that's too many. We're shooting for three. Although, both of our parents planned on three and ended up with four, so who knows?

I have one 1/2 brother who is 11 years older than me. My husband comes from a bigger family of all 1/2 siblings, I think there are 6ish. Most of them he doesn't talk to anymore except for two of them who are 15 & 25 yrs older than him.

We both want to shoot for at least two kids that are close in age, about 2 years apart. I say 3 max he says 4+. He says he wants me to be a stay at home mom & I'm fine with that but papa better start bring in A LOT more money if he wants 4+ kids!
