I'm so tired of buying diapers!!!! Anyone else? I have a 2.5 year old and she is not interested in potty training yet. I don't want to push her, so we're letting her do it at her own pace. Grumpy because I have to go buy yet another box tonight. Sigh.

Hah...while I'm not tired of them yet, I also have an almost 2.5 year old who refuses to even think about potty training.

i'm sorry. one of my BFFs was in that over diapers mood, she had been a diehard pampers swaddlers, then cruisers, user, then she decided that she was buying diapers that kept kiddo too comfortable and she started buying the cheapest diapers and waiting much longer between changes so kiddo started to feel uncomfortable. she said she thought that helped push kiddo into wanting to use the toilet. just a thought

I bought (what I vow) will be my last two boxes this past weekend. We've kind of sort of nonchalantly started potty training. DS is ready, we just transitioned to a twin bed. So hopefully we can take a long wknd in the next few weeks and buckle down!

@mrs. bird: omg. Hahahah. Honestly, we've tried pull-ups and they give our daughter the worst diaper rash, which just makes her sad. It does not seem to help her interest in that toilet thing...

OMG, with a 23 month old and a 1 month old, I am so freaking sick of diapers right now. I never really minded buying or changing them when it was just the one LO, but with two frequent poopers in the house now, I feel like half of my day and half of my budget go toward Pampers.

I have been buying diapers since March of 2010..... and my youngest is 13 months, so no where close to stopping! And there are at least 13 months in there when I have had to buy two different sizes at a time.
Wow, that's crazy when I think of it like that!
FWIW DS#1 and DD potty trained themselves right around that age. One day they were in diaper and the next they weren't! So, maybe this is your last box

@mediagirl: Have you tried different brands of pull ups? My LO was in pampers forever, but when we went to pampers pull ups she had a rash too. We switched brands and she was fine.

@T.H.O.U.: yeah. We've tried Pampers and Huggies - are considering the Target or Walmart brands next. Unfortunately right now we have a box of pull-ups sitting in the closet that I refuse to open.

Yes! We had to buy regular diapers, over night diapers, and wipes this weekend. There went $85.

@mediagirl: she tried the pull ups and ended up with a rash too!!! there was some wetness thing that was supposed to help kids feel when they peed, but it gave kiddo this blistering rash, it was really terrible, but for whatever reason, the craptastic diapers didn't give kiddo a rash. i wouldn't want to do anything that i thought could cause a rash either, those must feel miserable! poor LOs, if only they knew how nice a rashfree, dry bum could feel. hope potty success is in your near future! (FWIW, with all of my nanny kids, i never waited until they asked to use the potty, i just didn't put a diaper on them one morning if i thought they were ready. i'm sure you'll know when she's ready!)

DS is 18 months, and I'd love for him to be ready to potty trained!! Yea.... not happening. Not even close. He knows toilet paper goes in the toilet and knows how to flush, but doesn't recognize how to use it even though I use it and he watches me. Bigger sized diapers = less diapers, but same cost. Ouch!

I hate buying them too... thank goodness DD is almost potty trained. Now we just gotta get night training down and I can be rid of them!
I had her pick out her own underwear and that was what motivated her to potty train.
The gerber training pants and pullup types did not work for her.She would just pee in them but for some reason she tries very hard to not get her frozen underwear wet

@mediagirl: Do you have a friend who has a potty-trained child? Sometimes they'll want to start doing it if they have a friend who is potty trained. My LO was slowly potty training but her nanny share friend was fully potty trained at the time (she was a cloth diapered baby) and that inspired LO. Bought my last box of pull-ups in September that we only use for overnight. When these are done that's it!
You don't have to push, but you could give her some subliminal messages to get on the same page

I don't mind buying them so much but I despise changing poopy diapers on my 2.5 year old! It's just SO gross these days.

@mrsjazz: YES. She went twice yesterday when she was at our friend's house - her son is in the middle of "go every time the alarm goes off" potty training right now. Every time he went, she had to go, too. While I hate this type of talk, do you think something along the lines of, "Connor is using the potty all the time now instead of wearing diapers, do you want to do that, too?" would work?
She also goes to daycare with him and sometimes goes on the toilet there but mostly is too "busy" playing to do so.

I would ask her, "Hey what does Susie do when she has to peepee?" And she'd tell me and then I'd ask her if she wanted to try that, too. I think this is the only time in their lives that we can use peer pressure!ETA: Do you have any potty training books? We have this one book, Once Upon a Potty, where a little girl poops/pees on the floor by accident and my LO finds that hysterical.

My son is 39 months and has absolutely, I mean absolutely no interest in potty training. The kid could seriously care less if he's sitting in pee and poop!
and I have a 10 month old so yes buying diapers for 2 is seriously getting old (and expensive)!

I'm sick of pullups, she's mostly potty-trained but needs pull-ups at night and nap still, and for some reason I thought we would only need them for a little bit, but we are going on 4 months now and she's still walking up wet 75% of the time.
And we have another one in diapers coming, so I was hoping to only have 1 to pay for! I know I have it easier than most, but man pull-ups are so pricey! And she REFUSES diapers, those are not an option.

We day trained LO around 2 years old. At first, it was so tough, but it's gotten easier. We still have to night train him, but he loves to drink so much liquid before bed. All we buy is night diapers, so it's not so bad. When the next LO comes along, diapers won't be fun again. I love having LO in underwear.

DS is going to be 3 next month and has very little interest in the potty. We are trying to use some peer pressure at daycare but he is just not buying into it! I'm so sick of buying diapers.

I'm with you - my 2.5 year old was pretty much trained at Thanksgiving, but lots of holiday travel, waning enthusiasm, and some family members not helping on the follow through required to solidify things mean she's now back in diapers, with no real interest in the potty.
I'm trying to bribe her with the promise of some character undies when she pulls it off. Not my thing at all but I'm getting ready to try anything.
I'd be buying diapers anyway for the baby, and now that they're in the same size (or can be), I can let it go a bit and pretend I'm just buying them for the 9 month old.
I would ask her, "Hey what does Susie do when she has to peepee?" And she'd tell me and then I'd ask her if she wanted to try that, too. I think this is the only time in their lives that we can use peer pressure!
