Yes! Spinoff inspired by me : ) Either one of them is willing to do it (if we have a boy) but my hubs wants the ped to do it because my OB is a woman and our Ped is a man. Hubs feels that a man will have more respect for the penis and will be extra extra careful. He is so silly. I realize this is an absurd reason but I didn't care either way so I let him have his way.

My oldest was done by a pediatrician because it wasn't done at the hospital. My twins were done by my OB the day after they were born

Mohel is the Jewish person who usually performs the circumcision. If we have a DS, that is who would do ours. I guess some are also rabbis, but not necessarily.

@highwire: I never knew that! Is this person part of the staff of a congregation? Or is it just their job to be hired to perform circumcisions?

@MamaMoose: I think it depends (there are probably some who do double duty as staff of the congregation/other jobs) but in my temple growing up, the Mohel was not on staff of the congregation. He performed circumcisions for multiple temples in the area.

The pediatrician came to the hospital the day we were going home and did it that morning. They also did a frenotomy (he was tongue-tied) at the same time. Poor guy was all out of sorts that night.

@highwire: If we wanted a mohel we'd have to fly one here! There aren't any in the area We don't have a boy though so I'm not going to worry about it yet.

@highwire: I know! And next time we're going team green so I'm not sure how we'll plan that one. Oh well......

I chose other because I think my son's was done by the urologist that was on call that day. Maybe I'm wrong but that is what my memory says. It definitely wasn't by my OB or my son's pediatrician.

@highwire: @artbee: Oops my bad! Can't edit the poll! I always thought rabbis did it. Learned something new!

my OB did the deed. I thought it was the ped who did it normally but I guess not!

Just to make all the answers a little more complicated, a lot of mohels are actually also doctors. The mohel most people use around here is actually an OB!

I didn't participate in the poll bc I have a girl but my neighbor is an OB and I asked her about this bc I was thinking if I have a son I would want my OB to do it bc he is an excellent surgeon but she told me in WA state pediatricians typically do it
