We're also in that situation now. We moved overseas to Albania a month after our wedding where we volunteered for over a year.

Next fall, when this LO is about 6-7 months old we'll be moving semi-permanently (6-12 years) to Kosovo.

After Kosovo, it's likely we'll move somewhere else in the Balkans (where we can use our language skills), but we've talked about taking a year off in between jobs and moving somewhere like Morocco or Yemen to give our kids another experience and to attend Arabic language school.

We've also considered moving to Asia for a year or so, at some point in the future. Our lifestyle is very flexible, so anything is possible.

We already planned to homeschool whether in the USA or abroad, so that isn't an issue for us. But honestly, almost any capital city in any country in the world has a decent international school following an American curriculum, so I don't think it would be too big of an issue if we wanted to put our kids in school.

I don't think I'd ever move outside the country, and I've finally found a part of the U.S. that I love living in and would be hesitant to move far away from this area at all--but given the right circumstances, I would (PhD program, great job, etc.).

Yep - I'm a bit of a nomad and I love it! I left the States at 25 and moved to London on an indefinite basis. After three years, I decided I needed some sunshine and moved to Australia for a year, having never even visited there before.

On my way home from Australia, whilst traveling through China, I met my DH who happens to be a British/Aussie (born in the UK, lived most of his life in Oz). He moved to the States for a while before I moved back down under.

We're currently looking into moving back north again - we miss having four seasons! Possibly the UK as most of his family is there, or the US as my family is there but our preference would be Europe. We are both fortunate enough to work in careers that are in demand worldwide for the most part, although I'm a SAHM and plan to stay one until the kids are in school full time.

DH and I are wanderers, we love to travel and can't get enough of seeing the world. We fully intend on our children being world travelers as well - in fact, DD will have completed her first round the world trip by 7 months of age. So yes, we have no qualms about moving countries considering we've both done it three times and know we have at least one more international move ahead of us!

Yes. Domestically, we would definitely consider a fairly permanent move-- as it is, I moved 5 hours away from my family to be with him, and his family is across the country, so while we have friends here, we don't have deep family ties or anything holding us here.
Internationally, I would sign on for something like 2 years in a heartbeat. I'd love to live abroad for a while, yet still know we would come back to the US at some point. It would have to be for his job, and they'd have to take care of the details But I think the next few years would be a good time for it-- with really young kids, they would get to experience living somewhere new but wouldn't have to be pulled out of school yet or anything. But, I don't see that happening with H's job right now.

I can, and did! Left the U.S. 5.5 years ago for Mexico City and no plans to move back anytime soon, although I do miss Target and you know, a sense of order sometimes.

I would love to. It all depends on DH's job, but he's currently applying in Europe.

I would and we did! We're from St. Louis and we live in England, about an hour north of London. We've been here a year and we have 2 more to go. C was born in Cambridge, England.

Definitely! We've talked about it as a possibility, provided we could find some work arrangement through my husband's job. I think it would be fabulous for us (and kids) to experience.
