We just have the ergo but it works fine for my 4 month old!

We just used our Tula to fly international, and it worked great. He was a little small for it on our first trip, so we sat him on a small rolled up blanket. This time (at 4mo) he sat in it normally.

I love having my Ergo! It makes things so much easier. I mainly wear her to walk the dog. I bought mine secondhand and it's held up wonderfully. Now that she's bigger, I'm thinking about getting a toddler-size carrier, but I have a ways to go before I would actually need it (at 15 months, she's 28 7/8" tall).

I find it to be a bit like clothing. SSCs, unlike wraps, have certain elements that aren't infinitely adjustable--think straps, waist belts, height, width, etc. Some will work better for certain babies and adults. All of the brands you are considering are well-made, hold value pretty well, and can be very comfortable. Since all of those brands are fairly common, I would try to find a store in my area that carries one or more of the specific styles you are interested in. This should help you determine what might work best for you and your child. If that isn't an option, you might consider joining a facebook group or somewhere with many SSC users that you could ask for opinions. If you are 5'6" and average weight, hearing from people with a similar build might be useful. Same for your child's build.

If you can afford it, get the Tula! I've used my Ergo for 2 years and I love it, but I just borrowed and Tula and it's much more comfortable for back wearing since the straps adjust more. It's also a little larger in general so will last longer.

I have the Boba carrier, and my baby loves it. But I think it's very similar to the Ergo carrier, too. They all look alike to me.

I have a Beco Soleil, but I kind of wish I'd gotten a Tula instead. They're pretty similar but Tula has better resale value. There's also more accessories (like suck pads, extenders to make it closer to toddler size, etc. But it is a really personal thing, if you can test any of them out before committing, that would be ideal :).

@Littlebit: are you apart of the tula buy sell trade group?

We have an ergo but dh hated wearing it so we also got a bjorn one carrier for him, and it is so much easier to get lo in and so much comfier to wear that we haven't used the ergo since!

Another vote for the Baby Bjorn. I haven't tried many others, but I love how easy it is to use and how secure E (11 weeks now) feels in it. It is also very adjustable, which is important for me because I'm pretty short.

I agree with @wonderstruck: about the Pikkolo from Catbirdbaby. We have an ergo, too, but I find that, since I'm only 5'1", it's too long for my torso and fits awkwardly.

I love the ergo and used that with my first, but this time around (after getting exposed to woven wraps) I got a LennyLamb ergonomic carrier and LOVE IT! It's made from woven fabric and is so so comfy. We got the baby-size which is equivalent to a standard baby carrier and it fits our 6 month old great! We didn't need to use a infant cushion or a rolled blanket even though we started wearing her in it at 3 months - I just use a ribbon to cinch the body narrower and DD2 can have her knees bent in the proper position. They are having a 15% discount now and even with shipping from Poland, it comes to around $120 USD (they bill in PLN but conversion rates are low now).

ETA: I also have a Tula and find myself reaching for the LL carrier more now. The woven wrap material is much softer than the canvas Tula and it's very big on my DD. I will probably reach more for the Tula when DD gets bigger and use both, but the wrap conversion LL for that price point is pretty awesome.
