Want to visit my family next week/weekend and obviously it saves a lot of money to drive.
It’s a 5-6 hour drive without kids. With kids we’ve done it in 6-7. My kids are (knock on wood) awesome on car trips and we only have to stop once or twice. They don’t cry or scream. 5yo weirdly doesn’t even ask for the iPad. He just looks out the window and listens to music. 18mo last took this trip 3 months ago and he snoozed on and off and just babbled.

BUT. Both times I was with DH. This trip I would be alone.

Has anyone done this? My biggest concern is actually that I can’t hand the baby snacks or water if I have to. Afraid I’ll do a lot of pulling over and I really don’t want to turn a 7 hour trip into a 9 hour trip just because I’m alone.

DH thinks that the flight would be more stressful since I can’t control delays, cancellations, etc. 18mo less likely to nap. I can’t stop for food, let them run off steam at fast food play space, etc. Have to deal with lugging car seat or renting and installing in a rental car which adds another layer of waiting.

I’m really torn as there are some serious pros (and cons) to both.
