Please tell me this is normal - I took my first indoor cycling class yesterday, and I woke up this morning with a sore bottom! During the class, I kept thinking about how uncomfortable the bike seat was. Is this something that gets better with time?

@aprild: for me it got better with time. Some people buy padded shorts or get a seat cushion to help.

You definitely get used to it! The first few classes are a bit painful, though. But I love spinning!

Very normal - the first few rides are always really hard on my pelvic bones, particularly! If you're going to be doing it several times a week, it may be worth buying padded bike shorts or capris. I think mine are Pearl Izumi brand - I got them on sale and they've lasted a few years so far.

Like everyone else has said, totally normal. If you're new to spinning and the pain/irritation continues, you might have the instructor check your bike set-up. Moving the seat closer (or back an inch or two) might help make a difference. Also try moving the seat up/down as well. Sometimes I'm not careful about my seat height and my butt grazes the seat more than it should, resulting in skin irritation and soreness.

Did you get help with the bike set up? I was in pain until I got the settings right, even with padded shorts.

Buy padded shorts and keep going to the class! It hurt me so badly at first but after a few weeks I didn't notice it anymore. I kept going and lost 30 pounds

I have a padded seat because I hate when my ass hurts and I have no butt padding. I haven't gone to spin class in years....I even have clips LOL
