I am the speed demon who voted 70-80 because I know I'd be going 75. Where I grew up everyone went 75-80 on the highway!

I go 5 over...sometimes 7...which is why my husband drives.

I voted 55-65. My cruise would probably be set at 62.

I'd probably be trying to stay around 65 but would keep creeping up to 70-75.

@grizz: Ha ha...I have 4 speeding tickets. They're all under 10 over. And not in residential areas. I have a gift.

And I'd be going 60. I almost never drive more than 5 over, because of said gift.

@Shutterbug: as massholes, i'm not sure we can be expected to stay at or below the speed limit if the road is open! someone would come up behind us and we'd get hit, it's just not expected here. haha. that and we have some horrific traffic so given the opportunity, we have to make up for lost time/speed

@mrs. bird: haha right? The flow of traffic on the highways around here (speed limit 55-65) is minimum 75, more like 80.

If the road is wide open I'm usually more likely to follow the actual speed limit. If I'm the only person on the road speeding, I feel like that's a big target painted on me ;). If I'm in traffic, I keep up with the faster traffic. Usually I do 5 over.

if kids are in the car, I only go 5 over max. when i used to drive by myself, i'd probably go 70.

I'd be going at least five over. Probably 10.

I once got a ticket for going 38 in a 35.

I totally have a lead foot, but I usually set my cruise for 5 over and go with that- the cruise to keep me from going any faster. So I'd only be going 60 in said situation. My anxiety over getting stopped is greater than my need for speed. I have been pulled over for going 9 over and in the last year I've gotten totally paranoid about having what happened to @Rainbow Sprinkles: happen to me.
None of this counts for the back roads. Here the gravel roads are officially 50, but they're never patrolled and NOBODY sticks to that. Not even close.

55. Less gas... safer. No more than 5 over ever here. They will ticket you here heavily.
