I've been reading about 'the sperm meets the egg plan' tonight and I'm definitely going to try it next month (I'm pretty sure I'm out this month, but I've still got a little bit of hope!)
Any bees tried this plan and had success? I think it looks pretty logical and it's making me excited

This is the one where you use OPKs? And when you get a positive you BD that day, the next two days then take a day off then BD one more time after that?
I mean it makes sense. Most of the time a positive OPK indicates that one will O within 48 hours, so its just good timing.

@Tundra Daisy: well, we miscarried and were trying for 3 months before we tried the spe plan... first month trying it and it was a success.

That's what we did! I was off bc for 7 months, but we'd only really been following the plan (I had no idea there was a name for it) for maybe 3 or 4 months. But yup, it worked for us! Good luck!

@Tundra Daisy: since I'm sure you're doing lots of thinking about this plan too, what's your opinion...
this plan assumes ovulation at cd14 right? I usually ovulate on cd15 so think I should start it a day later in order to match up with their timing? So start on cd9 instead of 8?

@buttermilk: This plan assumes ovulation within 72 hours of a positive OPK. It has you start using OPKs CD10, but you could adjust this if you know you usually O later.

I tried to do the SME plan this last week. But I didn't start on cycle day 8 like I was supposed to. And DH and I celebrated a bit too much this weekend so..... anyhow... I'm trying to do the tail end of the SME plan.

@Ash: Great!! I really hope it works for me this month - Any Idea why the plan says to start bd'ing on day 8? Is this incase of early ovulation?

We did this. I am almost 17 weeks! You start early in case you ovulate earlier than day 14. You already want sperm ready and waiting in there when the egg is released. You also do every other day to help keep sperm healthy and their count high. We started a little later bc I know I ovulate on day 20/21 vs day 14. Fx for you!!

@Lugrey508: Yeh! It's a very hopeful plan isn't it? I like having some kind of instructions with most things I do in life even TTC lol.. gives me something to focus on and makes me feel proactive!! goodluck to you too!!!

@Tundra Daisy: We did the plan once. The first two months we were just waiting until the week we knew I was ovulating and having sex as often as we could muster, so it was similar, but SMEP was more organized and thoughtful. We also used Preseed the month we got a BFP, but I don't know if I got pregnant the night before we used it, or the night we used it. The night before was just a regular EOD on the Plan, so we didn't use the Pre-seed. The next day I got my positive O strip, so we had sex again and used the Preseed, and then for the next day as well. So, three days in a row was how it all played out. One night with no Preseed, two nights with.

Also, this chart was helpful... Another reason why EOD for a solid week or more before O is a part of SMEP!

@citymouse: Hmm so according to this chart, you are actually more likely to conceive when you BD the days leading up to O than O day itself? That's good news since I missed O day this cycle, but did DTD -2, -1 and -4

@pui: Right, since O strips predict O to happen 12-36 hours from the time you get a positive. I was reading through A Child Is Born, which is an INSANELY awesome book with medical *pictures* (not computer generated) of the life cycle of creating a babe, seriously go read it, and the sperms have to go through a lot to be ready for the egg when it comes down the tube. Its a lot of steps for them. So having sperm in there ready to go when the egg enters the tube is key!
But really, go read that book. It will blow your mind into a million little pieces.

I thought I might have botched the timing this month, pretty sure we missed O day too @pui, but we were did DTD leading up to O so it looks like we are still in the running. FX!

We followed the SMEP both times I got my BFPs...worked within the first 1-2 months. Unfortunately, I M/C'ed both times at 7-8 weeks...but it turns out I have low progesterone and I am hopeful our 3rd BFP will result in a beautiful, healthy baby.
I SWEAR by this plan and will be using it again this month when we TTC again. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm in the TWW now after following the plan very precisely lol! Those three days in a row was quite an effort.. I had some crazy days with work at the start of the week and I O'd right during those days Ughh! Hope the effort pays off for me!
Did other bee's find all the BDing a bit tiresome? I hope I'm not the only one hehe

@Lugrey508: Hey! How are you doing.. you must be in the wait now? I'm 8dpo and tested tonight because I'm a sucker and could't resist - negative of course! I don't have a particularly good feeling about this month, haven't had any symptoms or anything but still really hopeful because I want a BFP so baaad!!
What day are you on now?

@Tundra Daisy: I'm 4 dpo and waiting for some symptoms ! Even though every month I tell myself I will be cool calm and collected, never works woke up this morning with a bloody nose and instantly googled if it was pregnancy related...haha so silly... lots of people say they had no symptoms the month they got their so maybe that's a good thing that you havent felt much! I wanted to wait until at least 12 dpo to test...I may not make it though.

Good luck! I really wanted to try this plan and never did because I have really irregular cycles and every other day for an indefinite amount of time made me feel tired just thinking about it haha!
@citymouse: when i got my BFP we only literally had sex once the whole cycle (we were in the middle of renovations and living at his parents for 2 weeks!) and it was O-2 - totally true!

@Tundra Daisy: no such luck! But I did not follow the plan well at all. So I am trying to remain positive as I can certainly see how I can do things differently with this current 4th ttc cycle that I'm on. How about you???

I am totally SMEPing this cycle. Today was CD6 so I started OPK testing. We BD often already, so I'm hoping that SMEP in combination with OPK (which seems like how you're supposed to do it, according to the website) will result in a BFP.

We did a slightly varied version of the plan - EOD and then 2 days in a row when I had a positive OPK. Almost 18 weeks now!
