I do our taxes myself and always have!
If you use an accountant, do you both go or just one of you?

Last year was our first time filing as a married couple and we went to our accountant together.

I do them. Mine have always been more complicated and I'm our researcher, so they tend to be my responsibility... but this year we need a tax professional.

I do them. I'd prefer to hire someone, but it's not in the budget, so I'll spend a few days figuring everything out.

Dh does them. Before we were married, he would "help" me with mine but do most of them, so once we were married I was happy to hand it all off to him. We thought about going to a professional last year but ended up not bother. Next year, with baby, me stopping working, and maybe buying a condo, we'll need a professional.

We both go to the accountant together. We have to file a few additional forms for our business and I handle them.

I do them. I don't mind it and it's easy. Sometimes we do certain sections together.

Dh takes them to the accountant. I am useless when it comes to taxes.

I'm a CPA, and we still both do them! I'm a total procrastinator, and DH always wants to do them in January. So he usually starts them when he gets impatient, and I finish them. I do all of our tax planning, though. I refuse to loan the government money interest free, so we don't get a refund. DH still isn't used to that, which I think is why he always wants to start them early

Me, since I'm the one who has a home office and a separate business to file for.

I do them - I grew up with a mom who worked her entire career in the IRS and I picked up a lot about how to do them. I also call and ask her for help when needed.

Me, via TurboTax. I don't know why, he's perfectly capable of doing them (though not particularly interested). I think I started doing them because when we were dating he would wait until the very last possible moment to file them, and that made me nuts, haha!

DH emails everything to the tax firm after we both fill in the forms they send us together online. We have to use an accountant familiar with expat taxes since we live abroad.

Last year we filed jointly, so we went together. This year he will be headof household, so I dont know that i need to be there.

Me. I hope I am doing them right!! It gets easier and easier every year with TurboTax.

We both go to the same accountant (my parents' accountant), but neither of us actually goes. We just send in the necessary forms by mail and then the accountant's office sends back all the important info and details on our returns.

Well, I technically take the lead. We used TaxAct, and he let me enter all the info, but he hung over my shoulder the whole time, lol.

@owlmom: DH loves getting a refund, even though I've explained the whole interest-free-loan-to-the-government piece. To him, it's worth forgoing the interest the money could've accrued to have the government force him to save. He thinks of it like Christmas in March! I can't say I mind the refund either.

I do our taxes....weird since my brother-in-law is an accountant. Lol.
Just like another thread recommended, I'm gonna use TaxAct this year.
