I've always called them aunt/uncle and always will. But my dh and his family use first names only.

I will always call them Aunt/Uncle. Ditto to what @Mrsbells: said, it's a sign of respect in my family. In my family Aunt/Uncle IS a first name

No, I call them shortened versions of their names ("San" for Melissa Ann, "Nan" for Nancy. I do refer to E's aunts and uncles as "Uncle Jesse, Auntie Em, Uncle Ben", etc).

Yes. In fact, we just celebrated my grandmother's birthday this weekend, and my mom and aunt were still telling us "kids" what to call THEIR aunts and uncles in Chinese. It gets so technical depending on gender and side of family. I told them "Auntie/Uncle xyz" was about as good as they were going to get, because if we still couldn't remember at this age, it wasn't ever happening. I think "Great-Uncle and Great-Aunt" were too formal, but Uncle & Auntie would suffice.

Yup. In my culture, calling them by their first names would be cold and rude, especially since they used to always be auntie and uncle.

I still do. It's a respect thing for me.

We all still do - and it's kind of funny names too. My aunt is Jane and we called her Auntie Janie. No one else ever calls her Janie other than her nieces and nephews who are now all in their 20s and 30s!

Yep! It's a sign of respect and they will always be my aunt and uncle so, I just keep doing it.

By the time my brother came along people in my area started doing the first name thing with adults. My dad didn't mind, but my mom always told children to call her Mrs. Last name.

I'd like to think I am young, but even with my favorite cousin's little girls I am Cousin Lemon.

I do, but I wish I didn't. That said, I only see them like every 5 years, if that.

I actually think it is really weird for DS to call his aunts and uncles by their title. With my family, I just use their name. But with DH's family, they have all inserted the title before the name, even though when I refer to one of them I just use their name.

Yep. I call them aunt/uncle in korean.

I do for most of them to their faces. If I'm talking about them to my parents I usually only use their first name. Also the spouses of my uncle and aunt who were married after I was in high school I call by their first name.

I always and still call my aunts and uncles by their first name only.

@Mae: Speaking of the respect/title thing, it's completely unheard of to call someone Mr. Or Mrs. So and so except for teachers. I was never taught to call people that way. It was always first names. I think it's just my area? We keep a lot of aspects of speaking as casual as possible.
