Maysprout I would love that! Do you live in New Jersey? I have a friend that lives in Mendham and she has a gorgeous home with an indoor pool, outdoor pool, media room and even a two lane bowling alley! I really would like my children to have a nice big yard and a swingset to play on but my husband really likes splitting our time between Japan and New York

My IL lived in Mendham too, that's just where I was thinking of.

We live in a city just outside Sacramento, CA and we pay a little over $5000 mortgage for a one-story 2860 sq ft home. Real estate prices here are a bit higher than the surrounding areas but it's worth it for the awesome school system and the great small town community.

ETA: Actually, I forgot that we recently paid off one of the loans and re-financed the house, so our mortgage is now $4200 (prop tax included).

@mrs. wagon: What suburb do you live in? In about a year, I might take a job in Boston and I'm sort of scoping out the suburbs to see what's a good affordable and safe neighborhood. We *hopefully* should have a LO by then, so schools might be important, too.

Maysprout How funny that we are talking about the exact same town in New Jersey! Haha I love my house here but I really do struggle with not having a large backyard. My husband always says that Central Park is right outside the door but it's different.

@bluestriped bee: We live in Dedham. I grew up north of Boston and now we're south, and I've lived in greater Boston as well as west of Boston... so I know all the neighborhoods! When the time comes definitely let me know and I can help direct you to some great neighborhoods with good school systems that are affordable. We're in the same boat and always keeping our eyes open, so I can definitely share my research with you always!!
