I'm in my dream area. It's a cute little community and very artsy fartsy. They always have fun events going on- every 3rd friday they have a street fair with arts and crafts, different vendors, and life music, there's a nice farmers market every thursday, there's all sorts of festivals like a seafood festival, Italian festival. And most importantly it's all very dog friendly- my pup (who's pretty big) is even allowed in some of the stores downtown!

in that case we would still be in our same neighborhood or maybe the next town over.

@mediagirl: I love it here! It actually cut hubby's drive to work in half when we moved here. It's still about 20 minutes away and of course would be better if it were 2 minutes away, but it's worth it for living in our cute area with good schools.

I wouldn't mind staying exactly where we are, but dragging all my family much much closer. Or, conversely, Nantucket. I've never actually been there, but in my head it seems so charming!

Downtown Southport, NC DH and I used to ride down around the waterfront and daydream about being rich enough to buy one of the pretty houses right on the water. That probably won't happen (as we are both teachers), but maybe we'll move back to some of the suburb-type places in SPT/OKI.
