Has anyone done this before? How do you go about doing it? I'm not sure the details of how it works but I'm interested in looking into it, so if anyone has any tips for me please share

We sponsor an angel tree child every year. We usually get the name at church but they have them everywhere. I think it's through the salvation army. They have sizes and their likes in the back. You buy everything and drop it off for them to send to the family.

I haven't done it in anlong while, but my communuty center used to have an angel tree. Also the grocery store may have one too.

Yes, we've done this at church and community groups organize them too. I'd check in your local community for something like a Family Services group or something of that nature.

We go through the Salvation Army. I usually pick someone elderly over a child because I figure more people choose a child.

Yep if you contact local organizations working with kids or elderly they usually have a program! We've done at least one every year, I need to find one in my new area!

@Bao: We do a few shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The national collection week is November 18-25 - their website lists all the drop off locations in your area. I register my boxes online, so that I can track them! You can go here to get started: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/follow-your-box-iframe/. You select how many boxes, genders, and ages & then they give you bar-codes to print out and attach to your boxes. You just drop them off nearby, and once they are sent out, you can track where you box goes in the world! I think it's really neat.

I found a local program that sponsors abused/neglected children so I think we will start with that one and go from there it's the only company that has contacted me back so far, I'm excited!

We sponsor a child through D's work. The recipient lives at a local-ish women and children's home.

We always sponsor foster children through DHS (CPS in some states), and through a local family homeless shelter.
