So everyday DH gets home and head straight for the bathroom for a minimum of 15 mintues, usually 20-30. I don't understand waht he is doing in there, lol. I sit go and am done. Are you a sit and take your time or straight to the point?

Sometimes it takes me awhile! I'd love to be able to just go and be done, but it doesn't always work that way. Plus I like to be alone and play Candy Crush

LOL!! I'm mostly a straight to the point but I have been known to spend a little extra time playing on my phone in there. DH has Crohns and is in there FOREVER.

I usually get in and get out, DH takes much longer. I think it's a guy thing.

My husband can spend quite a bit of time in there. He's usually playing games.... lol.
I like to go in and get 'er done.

Depends! If DH is in there too long (based on my determination, LOL), I usually yell and ask if he has his phone with him? It means he's playing games then

I sit and am done in less than a min.
My dh can sit forever! I always tell him to just go and get off!

Usually I'm in and out in a couple of minutes, though sometimes it takes a little longer (for some reason, I have an idea when these times are so I bring my iPad in with me for something to do!). DH is in and out in less than a minute... he leaves it until the last minute (his words!) to minimise time!

I think it is a guy thing. DH is a 20-30 minute poo-er too. I am in and out, most of the time because I have a baby and 2 cats pounding down the door.

Mommy confession: sometimes when I ask DH to watch DS because I need to use the bathroom I use that time to tweeze my eyebrows, file my nails, put on a mask, floss, zone out, etc.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
Ugh... Dan does the same. He finishes in like 5 minutes, but just sits there and looks at Twitter & sports blogs for 20 more minutes. Why on earth would you want to sit in a tiny room filled with poop smell longer than you have to? Just get up & look at your Twitter on the couch!

It's all business for me, DH takes his time (to the point his leg falls asleep!) I don't get it!

@prettylizy: OMG! My DH often will come out of the bathroom and tell me that he "didn't realize how long it had been until he couldn't feel his legs any more" hahaha wtf!
nectarine / 2600 posts
@photojane: lol!
Yeah DH can definitely hang out. I keep telling him he's gonna give himself hemorrhoids. I'm in and out, unless there's an "issue"

I'm usually in and out pretty quickly, though I should take my time. It would probably help with some of my lingering postpartum issues, if you know what I mean....

I wait to go until I really have to go!! My husband is in there for like 30 minutes. It makes me crazy. He would be mortified that I told you all this but one time I left them alone and when I got home he had the baby propped up in her bouncy seat with a toy in the doorway to the bathroom while he was taking his time doing his business! I was horrified and rescued her immediately!! : )

I think people who are constipated spend longer on the can...

This drive me insane about my DH! He is on there for ages! Plus he usually times it just right - like when I'm doing some housework and want him to help! He takes a book in there or his phone..... I don't get it, I'm in and out. If I didn't *need* to go, I wouldn't go in there!!! The other night, he was constiped and was on there for over an hour - and he woke me up watching youtube vids on his phone in there (I was alseep in bed and the bathroom is on the other side of the house). I was not happy!!!

@mrbee: Agreed! I was just about to say something along those lines. I prefer to go in and get out ASAP, but sometimes, it just isn't that easy...
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@MamaMoose: hahaha... Dan did the same exact thing! Men are funny. I came home from getting a pedi, and he had her in the doorway of the bathroom in her Rock N Play while he was sitting there on his phone!

omg I love this thread.
I am an in and out in less than a minute type person. DH is 30 + mins all.the.time. Drive me bats**t crazy! I don't get it, he says it's his down/alone time....uhh gross? And I don't give myself downtime, so it frustrates me that he gets it, lol.
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Hhahaha I love this. Is it just a guy thing? Is it like their alone time? Because DH spend a good 30 mins in there on his phone or what not, and I'm like WTF are you doing?! I'm in and out cuz really, why would I want to be in my bathroom for 30 mins?
wonderful pea / 17279 posts
DH zones out on his throne. He turns the fan on, listens to his iPod, reads his fitness magazines and motorcycle gear catalogues. DH is quite regular. I don't understand what the appeal is just sitting over the commode.

Yesterday when my husband was in there, my toddler barged in and kept him company. It was AWESOME. hahaha.
Yes, I think this is a man/personal time thing. Must be nice.
grapefruit / 4278 posts
I totally don't get this! It seems every guy I know takes forever to do his business. I'll tease DH and call through the door for him not to force it. If you have to go, shouldn't it only take a minute? And if you don't have to go, why are you trying?
coconut / 8854 posts
It's totally a guy thing! DH is in there right after work for at least 15 minutes. Although it pisses me off for some reason (not sure why!) but I'm always yelling at him to get out!
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
My DH does the same thing...he sits and reads a trivia book.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I have health problems in this department and can easily spend awhile in there. DH is in and out in 5. thank foodness he doesnt bother me lol. Maybe your DH likes the quiet, though
pomelo / 5789 posts
@LindsayInNYC: I do the same thing! If dinner is going to be ready soon, I confiscate his phone before letting him use the bathroom.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Ha ha, I love this. I think it takes me mere seconds but he can be in there an hour. Why? Why would you want to spend longer than you have to on the loo?
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
This is my husband as well!!! oh my gosh, haha I laughed out loud because it is the first thing he does and drives me nuts!

OMG. I thot this was something only my DH does!!! He sits in there forever playing on his phone/laptop or reading the paper and ends up with bad leg cramps. i usually have to yell at him to get up/come out.
In on the other hand prefer not to linger. i just do it and get out. Time is too precious to waste away on the crapper!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
It literally takes me the same amount of time as it does to pee. DH - at least 15 mins. I keep telling him he needs more fiber but now I'm wondering if he is just farting around (pun intended haha) in there
