I get what she is trying to say and I agree with the overall message- I've heard several of my pregnant girlfriends say they are eating for two and it seems like they sort of use pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever they want. I remember my OB telling me the baby only needs like an additional 300 calories which isn't very much and definitely isn't eating for two! I really tried hard to eat as well as possible. Sure, there were days when nothing but fries sounded good, but for the most part, I tried to load up on veggies and healthy foods. I don't care what anyone else eats/doesn't eat, but for me, personally, it was important to continue to eat as balanced as I could.

@Kemma: We've found that deleting comments usually creates more problems, especially if other people have already responded to it... people just start posting over and over, asking "What did so-and-so say?"
Also, if we delete comments and handle moderation situations privately, then all sorts of rumors start to spring up around what was said, what action we took (or not), etc. So sometimes, it can just be more transparent for everyone if we leave the comment and respond below it. So we've been trying that out, to see how it goes.
I'll definitely post more about all this later this week! Just got home after traveling all weekend and am exhausted!!

@pinkcupcake: I agree completely. We were at a wedding and someone said, "Oh come on, you're only going to eat one piece of cake. Have three, you're pregnant, you can!" Um, no thanks? I don't care what others eat but you get judged either way. People judge with you over indulge all the time and people judge if you eat healthy. You have to eat what makes you comfortable.

Oh, another fitness enthusiast fat-shaming pregnant women.... How original.

@mrbee: Just wanted to say that I totally agree that deleting ends up causing more problems - I like the strategy you guys are trying out here

I guess I didn't find the article that bad. She has valid points. Is she self-centered, yes. But I'll be honest and say that I would love to be that fit and I'm sure she will look and feel great after pregnancy. I always take these articles with a grain of salt. Who knows how they were edited. Maybe she said "5 dozen donuts" and it got edited down to "a donut."

@Nskillet: I always wonder if you're a troll, or if you just have no filter and enjoy insulting other women. Seems to be a theme in your posts.

@Kemma: Sincere apologies for any offense.
@mrbee: Feel free to delete my comment, no one has replied and if not I respect your course.
@grizz: I am entertained at the thought of you considering me a "troll" I simply voiced my opinion and shocker someone didn't like my wording and suddenly it makes me enjoy insulting other women? There is a mute button on these boards for a reason. Try it out sometime.

1) I only know her because of George Clooney--and it's kind of sad for her that her claim to fame is as one of George Clooney's exes. (But I'm sure she's gotten more money based on that ex.)
2) People and other mags. seem intent on having pregnant celebrities/celebrity moms say things that they know are going to be controversial. People knew what they were doing.
3) Even if People didn't lead the interview towards getting those kinds of answers, and even though she's made her money off of being fit--she seems tone deaf. True, being pregnant isn't an excuse for eating donuts. But are we talking about eating donuts occasionally or daily donuts? No cravings? Well, tra-la-la for you, lady. But those comments don't really bother me, it's the organic comments that annoy me. Hooray that you have the money to spend to only buy organic body products and food. That's called privilege. Many celebrities are tone deaf when it comes to bragging/showing off how their money sets them apart from their fan base.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
@Kemma: are you related to her? You seem very upset over anyone who is talking bad about her, derogatory term or not. I felt like her comments in her interview were very high and mighty. I find it almost impossible that she has not craved one thing during pregnancy. What normal human being can go 7 months without a craving? Maybe she didn't act on it but that's not what she's saying. She's just giving women who may already be body conscious or have low self esteem more to worry about.
grapefruit / 4291 posts
@mediagirl: nope, absolutely no relation (although perhaps I might have got some of her height if I was??). I guess my main issue is the shaming that's going on because she hasn't had a difficult pregnancy - it shouldn't be a pissing contest! I'm not necessarily saying I agree with what she said but some of the pp's used some pretty strong language towards her which just seemed a little rough.

1. Who is Stacey Keibler? I thought I might recognize her picture, but she's just a pretty face to me!
2. I had 2 delicious donuts the other week. Girlfriend is missing out!
ETA: the reporting is really the most annoying thing to me. The content does not merit "Exclusive" in bright colors on the top. And the first sentence "skinny mini!" is unfortunate. Why couldn't they emphasize more that she's trying to be healthy rather than push another celebrity staying thin during/after pregnancy?
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
Silly girl. Pregnancy is totally an excuse to eat a donut. Just maybe not an excuse to eat allllllll the donuts. Mmmmmm donuts.
blogger / nectarine / 2608 posts
All I can say is, if I can't eat donuts I sure as hell better be able to eat my self-care products. Because sometimes a lady gets hungry. Just saying.
pomegranate / 3706 posts
I didn't even bother reading this drivel. Celebrities really must feel sad sometimes that they are under such body scrutiny that they can't just enjoy food. To act superior and to shame people who do enjoy food that they may find "off limits" is gross and just makes me feel sad for her. I worry she doesn't love herself unconditionally and give her body grace, and every woman should. Additionally: I ate a donut this AM and it was delicious. I love my body too. The horror.
nectarine / 2973 posts
I see nothing wrong with this article... It's her choice to eat healthy during her pregnancy, I don't see anything wrong with that. If anything, good for her, more people should eat healthier pregnant or not.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
I had a tres leches donut the other day. Omg most amazing donut everrrrr
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Kemma: I don't think it's a pissing contest for people to simply point out that when you're having a difficult pregnancy, if you can keep down donuts, you eat donuts! And when you brag about having an easy pregnancy while shaming those whose diet isn't as perfect as yours, you are pretty much asking for criticism. Her comments are totally baiting.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@grizz: I can vouch and confirm she is definitely no troll and had been on this site for years. She speaks her mind (and is often pretty funny!) and I guess lately takes heat for that.
nectarine / 2358 posts
Considering I have no idea who she is, I don't really care what she has to say. Just another rich person who likely got famous for knowing someone (I guess George Clooney in this case?) who can afford things the rest of us can't. Oh, and I had ice cream BEFORE going to dinner last night. Suck on that, Stacey Keibler!
P.S. She isn't famous for being part of the cookie Keibler business, is she? That would break my heart.
coconut / 8681 posts
I don't find anything wrong with the article. Good for her. I also agree that pregnancy is too often used as an excuse to let loose diet wise- I know I definitely took it too far. I wish that I hadn't. I'm sure I would've felt better about myself while pregnant and had a much easier time losing weight PP if I had exercised a little more self control.
All in all, I agree with her even though not everything she's advocating is doable for everyone.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I love People magazine, but I don't read it to learn about anything, it's fluff. They purposely publish stuff like this to get us talking about it, so well done People magazine!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@Purpledaisy: yeah, I don't really see the big deal with it. I think people can get defensive when it comes to food. I don't really see how what she said is "shaming". I'm sure the reporter specifically asked her to offer advice. It's not like she said "you're a disgusting, awful mother if you eat donuts." I probably eat too many donuts, but I'm perfectly fine with it and not offended by her words. Honestly, I probably should eat fewer donuts! Lol
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
I don't find anything wrong with her opinion. Everyone's entitled to one. If her tone is judgmental (not sure if I really got that vibe originally or if I felt that after I read some comments), regardless, judgment of women by other women - that I don't care for-- to each her own!
Doughnuts were one of my consistent cravings throughout pregnancy, so there's that.

I don't find anything wrong with the article. Good for her!
clementine / 806 posts
I chalked up her tone to ... this is my first pregnancy and I have the means to support my all organic diet and I want to do what's best for my new to be baby. I get that sentiment. Does it come off a little "i'm better than you" .. slightly. But remember, these women have far more money and free time than 99% of the rest of the women in the world ... so you have to take what and how they say with a grain of salt.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I think it's great that she promotes women to stay healthy & active during pregnancy (I follow her in IG), but for many of us who don't have personal trainers, and dietitians, etc, I hope she's not judging us for not doing these things, or at least not consistently!
olive / 67 posts
My two-cents: I saw nothing wrong with the article. I would hope everyone's doctor is also encouraging them to eat as healthy as possible while pregnant. And if we are comparing the nutritional value of donuts vs. almost-everything-else, well.... you know how that ends.
I have to say I'm a little surprised nobody has pointed out that many of the comments here (that she's "fat-shaming" pregnant women, that she is bragging/tone-deaf, and most insulting, that she is Clooney's "f-#&*$") are exactly what they are accusing Kiebler of doing.
The whole article has like five one-line quotes! If you think she is saying that you should be ashamed for indulging a craving, embarrassed because you put on weight while pregnant, or that you aren't doing your best because you are not eating all-organic and are still using regular drugstore makeup, then that is on you as the reader.
I have no idea who this woman is... but I am a little horrified so many commentators felt comfortable insulting her based solely on this article and I applaud those who came forward.
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@AnneBird: I agree with much of what you've written.
Also, I find it interesting that most people are ignoring that, in the article, she mentions that she has indulged in the occasional pizza party (whatever that means). I think she is basically saying what our doctors tell us - try to eat as healthy and as mindfully as you can while pregnant, but don't deny yourself the occasional indulgence.
At the end of the day, though, I have no idea who this person is, and don't really give an ish about her views on eating during pregnancy

@PurplePumps: Ha, I was JUST thinking this!! I was like, hmm, maybe reading this article/thread will make me crave a donut...
Nope! Although I did just get a craving for chocolate chip cookies, so perhaps that's related

Add me to the list of people who don't think this was anything to get upset over. I wish I would have had an extremely healthy all organic pregnancy. That wasn't the case for me, but I don't begrudge her for it.
ETA: There are plenty of people this site who have made "better than thou" types of statements about the life choices they make vs those around them. I'm sure I've done it myself at some point! But we aren't famous, so our every word isn't scrutinized and criticized.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: lol!
Sadly some of us have gestational diabetes so we can't have really have donuts anyways. *sad face*

Who freaking cares either way?
Either eat donuts or don't eat donuts, pregnant or not pregnant. Boom.
