Any opinions on which is better? We didn't have an ottoman with LO1 and want to purchase one this time. Not sure which option would be more comfy for nursing and sleeping.

My glider came with a gliding ottoman and it is really nice. The only thing I can compare it with is my friends glider and she just had a stationary nursing stool (like a low stool, not ottoman). The gliding ottoman was nicer to put your feet all the way up, but if it was a lot more money I can't say it's necessary. And if it doesn't move you could probably use the stationary ottoman in other ways in the future.

We've enjoyed our gliding ottoman but I wouldn't say it's a necessity! It made for a smooth rock/glide though.

@Foodnerd81: the stationary ottoman that comes with our glider is actually REALLY expensive, so I would try to find a gliding one that matches that is cheaper.

@hilsy85: yeah I wouldn't pay a lot for any ottoman! I especially think a stationery one you could just get a cheap one and it would be exactly as comfortable!
Eta: it's not the most attractive one though- it's definitely a baby glider, not something someone without kids would likely ever pick.
I was lucky that the most comfortable glider for me (I don't have a great back) happened to be one of the cheapest AND it came with a gliding ottoman, and I could use BBB coupons.

@petunia354: agree! We have a gliding one that came w our glider but not sure if there's a major difference w a stationary vs gliding, just that I loved having an ottoman!

We had a gliding ottoman that came with our glider, but it was awkward to nurse with my feet up like that so I never used it. In retrospect, I would have bought a more expensive glider that didn't have an ottoman.

I prefer stationary because I liked being able to push my feet against something without give. We just used a big poof my mom made and we can use as seating as well, which I don't see being able to do with a gliding ottoman.

@birdofafeather: hmm good point! You have the west elm graham glider, right? do you like it?

I had a gliding one and I did really like it. I did find that after gliding for a while it would start to slowly move away from me from the motion (this was on carpet).

Can't say I've ever used the gliding ottoman with ours.
@kiddosc: mine was inexpensive in general. I gotta say, after a second baby and hundreds of hours spent in that chair I wished I would've splurged on a super fancy plush one. Mine isn't holding up so well after 3 years!

It looks like I am in the minority, but I hate sitting in a gliding chair with a gliding ottoman. I find it easier to get comfy, and to get positioned well with baby, with a stationary ottoman.

I had a pouf made instead. I love it because it's cute and can easily be moved out of the way. My sister has a gliding ottoman and I am not a fan personally.
