So I just found out I am pregnant. From talking with friends who already have kids, we know you have to get on a waiting list for daycare early. I am only 5 weeks along, so I find it strange to start calling daycares, so my husband is doing it for me (doesn't feel like as much of a jinx that way). He has been updating me, and he thinks we will be able to get into a good one, since we are a year out.

However, he did confirm that people actually get on daycare waiting lists before TTC. I don't want to offend anyone, but this personally strikes me as incredibly odd. I have had so many friends that have had trouble getting pregnant, so it just seems like people are totally taking their fertility for granted just thinking they can book daycare for the exact month they will be ready for it (like 2 years down the road) and expect that it will work out perfectly. Plus, it seems like if kids aren't your life yet, why spend time looking into daycares (like aren't there other things to occupy time)? What do you all think? Again, this question is not meant to offend anyone. I just truly can't relate to this line of thought, and wanted to see how others feel, and if my line of thinking is the norm or minority.
