Does anyone have a recipe they love?
Really, I'm Looking for a really light yellow cake recipe. I can figure out the rest myself with strawberries and a stabilized whipped cream frosting.
Thanks!

I always made biscuits for my strawberry shortcake. I've found some sweeter biscuit recipes online for it. Then I add mashed strawberries that I've sprinkled sugar in and fresh whipped cream.

I think I used a recipe for sweet biscuits from Food and Wine. So so good.
Ok now I only want to eat strawberry shortcake!

My mom has one she loves, I'll ask her if you like. It's a pound cake though, so not sure if that'll work for you?

@Truth Bombs: perfect. Thanks!
@yoursilverlining: thank you but I'm looking for something lighter and not as dense as a pound cake?

@regberadaisy: I have made this several times and it's delicious and impressive looking. But the cake is not that light (and not as dense as pound cake but still needs to be able to hold up the filling). http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/strawberry_cream_cake/

@regberadaisy: what did you do in the end? Thinking of doing something similar for T's first birthday next week

@travelgirl1: I made a version of the one @tmom posted above! It was delicious and definitely a show stopper. Wasn't terribly hard either. I did home made whipped cream

@regberadaisy: that looks amazing!
This is the recipe I am thinking of doing, but with different decoration and not cut up beforehand http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/international/european/british/strawberries-and-cream-sponge-cake

@Mrs. Turtle: ooooh this changes everything!!! So is it really light? I was thinking to do regular sponge for the lightness but this sounds delicious.

@travelgirl1: mine didn't turn out as light as I'd hoped but I think I over mixed the egg whites. It tasted incredible and should be very light. Hard to go wrong with Smitten Kitchen, in my opinion.

These look amazing. Chiffon is like my nemesis. I've made it a bunch of times and it's always good but never great. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It always end up with an angel-food like crumb (kind of how angel food wants to "tear" apart), rather than a soft and fluffy chiffon-like crumb. Arg!
Anyways, I'm making something similar for my mother this weekend but I'm making angel food cake!
