Question for everyone. We weren't much stroller users until recently, he hated the infant car seat with a passion and I preferred baby wearing to pushing something around anyways. My son is almost 14m and a big heavy boy (30 lbs!). He's walking now but obviously not yet as transportation anywhere. I still love baby wearing but I've been trying to give a hurt shoulder a rest and so I am coming around the the whole stroller thing. We have a g Luxe which is nice enough for our sporadic stroller use up until now. I mainly use it around the neighborhood, usually don't bring it in the car. We live in a semi suburban area. Would it be crazy to get another smoother more sturdy stroller when he's already 1? We are probably planning to have another kid in the future but not for a while. Any recommendations?

We are buying a new stroller this week and I have a 15 month old and 4.5 year old. We have a Britax B-Agile from the older kiddo that I just don't like (the back slouches a lot). We bought a Britax B-Ready for the new kiddo which I love but it takes up a lot of space and isn't practical for travel.
We are getting a Baby Jogger City Mini. They are on sale right now (I think they are trying to clear out inventory as a new model just came out). We tried it out at Buy Buy Baby this weekend and of our options, it's what I liked the best. Our requirements were easy handling, somewhat small fold so that we can travel with it, and a mostly upright position. I don't know why stroller makers won't make a fully upright position!

@MamaG: I saw your thread and that's what made me post! That's one of the ones I was considering. It's so popular around where I live. We totally need an upright seat that's the only way he will tolerate it! He hates reclining.

@junebugsmama: I also love that our B Ready sits up so high so they can see and aren't down at feet level. But it is large. Advantage though is it can convert to a double.

We have an UB Cruz as our main walk around the neighborhood stroller that we love but keep a Mountain Buggy Nano in the car. It's super light and compact but it has a comfy seat for DS (17 months, very tall) and decent storage underneath. We keep a Britax parent organizer on it and love it for travel and on the go. The ride is pretty smooth, we take it to Farmer's Markets and downtown without issue.

We've had the g-luxe for the past 3.5 years and purchased it right after LO turned 1. Honestly, it's all that we need. I've bought two double strollers and sold them after very infrequent use with two kids. I have no desire for another single stroller.

I don't know how much you want to spend, but I really love our City Select. It drives like a dream and is really versatile. You can buy the single seat now, and later when your son is older you can get a second seat or just the glider board. My son is 2 and we still use the stroller for various things. We've got baby 2 coming this summer and I think it's going to be the perfect stroller for 2 kids with this age gap.

I feel like this would be a great opportunity to get a gently used stroller. Pick some strollers you like that are more full featured and see if you can get it used. That way you won't feel badly if you want a brand new big stroller if and when your new one comes along down the road.
I really like our gluxe for travel but can't imagine it as our only stroller. I'd look at the mamas and papas armadillo (or I think they also make a city version that's smaller), citi mini gt, UB Cruz (super upright seat), -

My toddler son loves our Uppababy Vista, but those are expensive, so if you can find it used, it would save you a lot. But the Vista is awesome, because the seat has multiple reclining positions and can be very upright. It has a huge storage basket underneath. The ride is smooth, and it can handle even bumpy, uneven sidewalks and paths. And it can be turned into a double stroller if you need it. I never regretted getting my Vista, and they have good resale value if you choose to sell it later on.

I have a 17 month old and have been lusting after the city mini for a while now. We live in a city and walking/stroller is our main mode of transportation. We currently have a UB Vista and GLuxe.
I love the small footprint of the GLuxe, easy to transport and better for restaurants and travel and stuff. But since I use the stroller for the grocery store I need storage underneath so that's a fail. Also can't use it well in snow or rain.
The sun canopy is big for an umbrella stroller but still not big enough for regular use. My son is very fair skinned and when we are in the hot sun all day I need to be able to fully cover him. Vista is good for that.I love the UB Vista for the storage underneath and it's big beefy wells get us around well. Large sun canopy. But it's SO BIG which makes it hard to maneuver in stores and restaurants. I traveled with it once (flight). NEVER AGAIN. It takes up so much space in our front entrance.
Neither of the above strollers are good for the subway. Vista is too heavy to take up and down stairs. Neither have an easy enough fold that I can do it while holding my sons hand (can't let go for even a second on the subway platform). The city mini has the one hand fold which I could see being awesome for getting around the city.
After experiencing both of the above strollers and researching and observing others in the city, I really think the city mini is my best option (size, easy fold, large canopy, storage undrrneath) but I do want to wait to see what this year brings for us in terms of having another LO. Because then I might just turn the vista into a double.
We do have a car that we are using more and more often. I like the idea of keeping one in the trunk but not sure what I'd keep in there. We have to park in a garage in our building and they valet. So if I keep something in there we basically can ONLY use it when we use our car because I can't just walk into our personal garage and grab it. anyway that's kinda OT but it's also weighing in on my decision.

when LO2 was born, LO1 was 2.5 years old. i debated whether to get a double stroller. we already had a g-luxe for LO1 that was good for us. our friend lent us the city mini GT double stroller. great stroller, but after using it about 3 times i knew it wasn't for us. the sheer weight and size of it was such a contrast to the ease of the g-luxe that we didn't want to use the double stroller. i looked into getting the joovy ultralight caboose on craigslist...however as i continued to research, LO2 was using the stroller less and less, so i dropped the idea entirely.
LO1 is a little over 3 and mostly walks or we carry him, and LO2 goes in the carrier.

My son is almost two, and we have two strollers, an umbrella stroller (MacLaren Quest) and the Britax B Ready. We just bought the MacLaren about a month ago for an upcoming flight, and we are really happy with both of the strollers we have. Now that he is older though, I find myself reaching for the umbrella stroller more often or just wearing him (my son is a tiny thing, so I can get away from it). While I love that the Britax can go through almost anything, it is big and not as easy to just grab and go. I am not sure what you mean by a sturdier stroller, but I feel like as the child gets older, you may want lighter and smaller.
