What strollers can you use from birth without having to put a carseat in there? My sister is having a baby in August, and I am totally blanking! She drives a lot, so I would say something with a 1 piece fold would be easier, versus something with a bassinet option. I think the city mini reclines enough to use from birth...anything else??

I'm confused by your question. Does she just not want a travel system?
We use a Bumbleride Flite that came with a adapter bar to set the infant car seat into. I guess I could have put her as a newborn directly into the stroller as well. -
the city mini reclines almost all the way. but i'm not sure how tight the harness can get...but, I think they sell those stroller add-ons (so to speak) like jj cole snuzzler that could snuggle the baby more?

I think you can also use the Chicco Liteway, it reclines almost all the way.

@regberadaisy: nope she wants a stroller she can use with an infant without having to also use a carseat...she thinks the carseat will be too hot in August for the baby to spend long periods of time in (which I agree). @sorrycharlie: yeah I figure she'll need one of those as well.

@hilsy85: Yes, I had an August baby and that was part of the reason we loved our B-Ready was because we could put her in the seat part right away without the hot car seat. I loved that the stroller seat is easy to flip to face the parents too.

I was able to use our Uppa Baby Cruz (with an infant insert) when our son was one week old. It's fairly lightweight and easy to open and close. Maybe that could be an option for her?

@hilsy85: while I agree, the B-Agile does recline enough for a newborn, if I was in her shoes, I would get the bassinet attachment. Then the baby isn't cooped up in the carseat (hot) and I wouldn't be worried about her falling out of the stroller or not being able to get it tight enough. I have the B-Agile and I WISHED I had the bassinet attachment when M was born. I would look for used (if she's into that) because you use it for such a small amount of time. I was home over the summer for my maternity leave and never felt comfortable putting M in the stroller itself. That was just me, though.
I know you said no bassinet but I had to go there from personal experience.

@mediagirl: thanks for the perspective!! I like the fact that with the b ready and city mini, you have the option of the bassinet if you decide you want one...I guess I'll present both to her and see what she thinks. Does the b agile come with a bassinet attachment too??

It's the same attachments that come with the stroller for the carseat to attach to it. Also, I like the B-Agile better than the City Mini because the carseat/bassinet attachments aren't obtrusive. They sit on the sides of the stroller and don't take up any space in the trunk (we have a small car). A friend of mine had the City Mini, looked at my B-Agile and told me she wanted the B-Agile instead. Haha. Both are great strollers, though!
One more thing - if I had an extra $200 and was planning on having more kids - I probably would have gotten the B-Ready instead of the B-Agile.

FWIW, I have the city mini and love it - it folds into a super small, compact pile. and I have used the carseat attachment and the child tray. @mediagirl I wonder why your friend didnt' like it? or did she have the city select? strange!

I know it's been mentioned, but I got the uppababy cruz and I just saw on the website that there is now a bassinett you can purcahase separately for it. I know it's pricey, but she can always sell it afterwards maybe?

@mediagirl: yup! yeah I was going between that with the britax in the store, I Liked that the britax didnt even need a carseat adapter for the carseat - but we were given a chicco keyfit from my nanny LOs, so it would have been more money to go that route anyway
they look almost identical!

We used a Maclaren Techno XT from birth. It lays flat and you can fold it with one hand. I found the straps to be tight enough for our almost 8lb newborn.

@hilsy85: We used the UppaBaby Cruz from birth. There is a nice snuggly newborn inset and the baby is at a nice reclined angle. 10 mo later and we are still absolutely loving it and so is he!

You can use the britax b agile from birth by reclining it or you can insert a bassinet. The bassinet is muh cooler than the carseat. We didn't use ours muh because my son was born in October, as you know, and it was too cold for the bassinet. It only fits up to 20lbs I think? Maybe 25. Shame because its very cute. @LivsMama: 2012 and 2013 UB Vistas recline flat, any from before that do not. Most people use the bassinet though, in the beginning, and you do have to remove that before folding it to put in the car.
To me, UBV is a little heavy and bulky for someone who is mostly a in and out of the car, so I'd probably have gone with the Cruz if that were the case for me. I'm in the city and walk more than I drive, so I wanted the extra durability and smoother ride on rough sidewalks of the Vista. And I wanted the bassinet for the same reason as the sister-- LO is due at the end of July and I think the carseat will be very warm. Plus the bassinet is so darn cute.

@MsLipGloss: Hmm, their website says 6 months +, which I thought I read somewhere was because it doesn't recline flat. Did you use yours without the carseat sometimes too? I would like the flexibility to be able to do that, but I thought I'd be suffocating my child or something. #FTMcluelessness

@hilsy85: Most strollers can be used without a carseat you can just recline the seat back. Having said that the carseat makes it much more convenient

I have a Graco Modes Click Connect, which you can get with or without a car seat. Although I haven't gotten any real-world use out of it yet, it is very easy to take apart/fold up, and the infant stroller part can face backwards or forwards, and reclines flat. It's also pretty budget-friendly!

@sorrycharlie: @hilsy85: City Mini definitely has a bassinet attachment. It goes with both the City Mini and the GT and you can get either the bassinet or the pram.
I love our City Mini! We have the carseat attachment and I want to get the bassinet next time around. As for City Mini vs B-Agile, it's really a question of preference. They are EXTREMELY similar. You sister should test drive both and compare them in person to decide which one she likes better. The rubber handle on the City Mini (vs foam on the B-Agile) is what sold me. The foam felt cheap and less durable to me. Just personal preference.
I would also say that neither really recline 100% flat.
