You can definitely use the bugaboo cam from birth until the kid's at least 3. Around here, for older kids (like 3-4), I usually see them in umbrella strollers like the Maclaren or Uppababy G luxe. I guess once kids get that heavy, it's easier to use a lighter stroller--also, one that they can easily get into and out of on their own.

@shopaholic: I think kids probably need to be lifted into it, although maybe they can do it themselves by stepping onto the foot part? As long as someone is holding it, of course...but it looks high enough to me that they would need help.

I agree that sometime after age 2 people switch to an umbrella stroller. We have a city mini and LO at 15 months it's starting to get heavy, and he already likes to get out on long walks to walk part of the the time. If we weren't having another baby I would probably switch to an umbrella sooner than later.

My sister has the Bugaboo Cameleon and is thinking about getting a new, smaller stroller soon for her 19 mo old son. For regular walks while they are still in the city, its great, but she wants something light that she can carry up and down stairs on the subway while she is also carrying him. But they are also moving to the suburbs soon, so she will be in and out of the car a lot too, so now she is thinking of the Citi Mini and they already have a super cheap umbrella stroller.
Uppa Baby Vista has the option of adding that little seat below. Its similar to the Bugaboo, but just a little bigger and can fit the extra seat.

Although my LO can still use his stroller, we opted to switch to an umbrella stroller (uppababy g-luxe) around 15 months. It is lightweight and takes up much less space.

My son is about 25 pounds and he's 21 months old. He wants to walk in the majority of situations we are out and about now, so think about that too...even though the weight on the stroller accommodates higher, your kid might not want to be hanging out in there for that long.
