Raise your hand if you’ve been screwed over by your student loan servicer.
I am so sick and tired of all the lost paperwork, inadequate documentation, and bad advice from customer service. I’m feeling defeated. Why is it so messed up?

My husband always says he’s going to sue the government over my student loans, but the providers are ridiculous too. We just checked on my PSLF status and despite getting the letter each year that my loans are all set, it looks like I’ve made half thequalifying payments I actually have and that they’ve only been applied to a few of my qualifying loans. Also just so you know all of your conversations with them are recorded so if they gave you bad advice you can refer to that. I am on my third loan serviced now (Sallie Mae then Navient now Fed Loans) and they’ve at least gotten better as I have gone along. I think the most important thing is a paper trail. And also do as much of your own research as possible so you’re informed when speaking with them. But yea just to commiserate the entire system is ridiculous, we’re all getting screwed over, and I don’t even want to think about how much is being wasted on administrative costs.

It's ridiculous. Every time we call we're told something different. We just found out that the last 5 years of payments don't count towards public service loan forgiveness because we have the wrong type of loans. Beyond frustrating. My husband owes 90k and is a social worker, and I just want to bang my head on the wall.

Navient and Fedloan are being sued right now for their awful practices. Anyone know much about that? I have one of those, my husband has the other.

Annnd my husband just emailed me about Fed Loans today. Looks like I’ll be printing every single loan payment I’ve made for the past 5 years. The worst part about this is even if they get sued, we don’t get anything. I feel like there should be some compensation. It’s so frustrating because making people pay these incredibly high interest rates and even payments for 10 years before having loans forgive is preventing us from investing money into the economy.

I’ve had the worst experience with fedloan and it’s honestly been a nightmare, and at some points, practically a full time job. I keep a print out of EVERYTHING and document the date, time, name and employee number for every conversation because I’ve been screwed so much. I have a huge binder with all the documentation that I literally keep in a safe. I consolidated my loans in 2011 and switched them to a payment program that qualifies for PSLF and I found out 3 years later, after submitting yearly employment certifications, that $26,000 of my loans DON’T COUNT!! And somehow, it was my mistake. Ugh I can’t even talk about without becoming ragey.
