4 years of Latin. They didn't have the right level of Spanish at a time I had free, so I took what was open and just continued.

Spanish, and continued through college.

I took Latin, and wouldn't say it was a waste at all. I think it offered me a much stronger grasp on grammar and how to write/speak correctly, and understand a lot of language based on the latin roots. I only took two years of Spanish, but I find I can get the gist of a lot of written Spanish and Italian because of understanding Latin.

But I do wish I'd taken another year or two of Spanish so I could speak more than "un pocito" of it.

I took Spanish. My sophomore year I studied abroad in Honduras and learned to speak fluently. My junior and senior years I did an independent study kind of thing with my Spanish teacher and took the AP Spanish language and the AP Spanish literature exams. It was an unconventional way to study language in high school but it worked for me!

I studied Greek from pre-school to my last year of high school. It was already my first language as a child so it made it a lot easier

French! Spanish would have been more useful but I love French...such a pretty language!

Spanish in high school which has been soooo useful! French in college but I've forgotten a lot of it!

I wish I would have taken Spanish at some point because it would have helped me more in life, but I never had an interest in it.

I actually took 5 years of Spanish. 1 year was in junior high. But because I don't use it I've lost most of it. But I did retain enough to mosey around when we were in Spain!

2 years of Latin and 2 of Spanish. I remember nothing!

I started with Spanish in junior high and then switched to French in high school and minored in it in college. I use it every day both at home and for work.

Spanish, and I went in to get a degree in it.

Spanish. It does me ZERO good in the midwest.

@MaryM: agree totally with what you said about the usefulness of Latin. I took several years of Latin, which actually taught me more about English than any of my English classes! Was a fantastic foundation for all the “romance” languages. I took ASL in college and really enjoyed it, but like anything, you don’t use it, you lose it.

French for 5 years (middle school through junior year).

I took French for 4 years...wish I took Spanish.

Spanish, and I loved it!! Too bad I haven't used it since so it's all kind of gone to the way side.
