2 words.....Maxi Dresses! I just don't have the body type for one 
I bought this one in hopes I could pull it off. Definitely not!
Please tell me I'm not the only one that just can't pull off popular styles!
Ps. Pretty nice pink tile huh? One day we'll update the bathroom!

I can't wear them! I totally have love handles & even though I have junk in the trunk my legs aren't as wide as my middle so clingy maxi = total fail!

Yep. Im pear-shaped too and thats pretty much how a maxi looks on me. 
We have a pink bathroom too! lol. We're gutting it this fall though.

@runsyellowlites: yep same here! I have really wide hips, and thick thighs, so they just look terrible! This goes in my goodwill pile!

I hear ya. Those clingy dresses don't really work on anyone without a model body, though. I wouldn't write off maxi dresses entirely - the ones with an empire waist and more flowy bottom can actually be really cute! I can only wear a maxi dress because I'm pregnant. I look ridiculous in a maxi dress if I'm not! Leave the pink tiles - gives the bathroom character!

Have you tried buying a more flowy maxi dress and then belting it at the most narrow spot of your waist? I think that would look awesome on you!
FWIW, I don't think you look bad in the picture though!

Actually, I hate them on anyone not pregnant. I just think they only look cute with a round bump underneath!
Oh and my style fail? Those straight legged jeans...not skinnies...but like the ankle pants. I am short and they just look like normal pants on me with no shape.

I'm with @rahlyrah - it doesn't really look that bad! I think if you find the *right* maxi dress, you could definitely pull it off! Try something less clingy. Those are the only styles I can wear

I cannot do pencil skirts or tucked-in button stuff shirts. The combo of the two are the worst! Something with my waist to hip proportion... Skirts always end up hiking up and twisting all around and shirts forever bubbling up.
@MrsBrewer: I think you could pull off the maxi dress! Those clingy materials don't look good on hardly anyone! A cotton poplin or rayon material is much more flattering for most people!

FWIW, I think the maxi style looks nice on you! I don't look good in them at all, but maybe now that I'm pregnant I'll try them again.

I can't wear maxi dresses either! My body is very short and curvy, and long dresses just don't do me any favors. I don't wear skinny jeans, capris/cropped pants, or big flowy tops either. Oh wellll

I don't think maxi dresses look good on me because I'm so short, and I don't wear heels, so they make me look like a midget!

Oh and another one, skinny jeans! Heck no! My thighs are ginormous plus I'm short, so that's just not a good combo at all!

I can't wear maxi dresses either. My ribcage is super wide with small boobs so my top half looks man-ish and then I have the pear issue going on down below. Bermuda shorts are just all kinds of wrong on me too.

I tried so many on pre-preg, and even the flowy empire waist ones made me look a little pregnant. I found ONE of all the ones I've tried on that looked good, but it was kind of backless and I didn't want to wear some crazy bra, since the whole point is that they are comfortable!
Pregnant, for a while I found they made me look HUGE, like before I was. Now, I'm actually getting a little huge, so I'm giving them another chance. I have one that looks pretty cute (since, again, huge and pregnant is just a fact) and some more being shipped right now.
I think maxi skirts with a fitted top are way more flattering and forgiving.

I think they look good when you have a big bump. I am not super pregnant yet but I just got this dress for when my bump is bigger.

I think you need something flowy with an empire waist! I am pear shaped too and have noticed maxi works if it Is loose and doesn't cling.
