My parents always put me in summer school through the school district or summer enrichment programs at local colleges...the first part of my summers were never that relaxing!
They also assigned me lots of things to do around the house and yard...

I didn't go to summer school! Slept in, played, swam and relaxed during the summer!

I always had chores, but other than that summer was for fun. My parents did encourage me to keep reading during the summer. They didn't have to try hard, I loved to read. I would miss school and do workbooks for fun.

I went to multiple day camps, and was also assigned summer homework (math and reading assignments) by my mom. It was still fun though, I miss summer breaks!

Nope! Was always at camp, some kind of enrichment program, or dance camp when I was in high school.

Summers were always spent going to Chinese School! A lotta good that did; I still can't read or write!

Summers were spent at the pool (on non-softball game days), laying out, playing with friends, bike rides, leisure!

Elementary through middle school - my parents picked up the next grade level's textbook and I had to "go to school" at home. They even made me set my own schedule and ensure I cover all the objectives! Ugh!
In HS, I was at educational summer camps and swim team practice.
@regberadaisy: I went to Chinese school every Sunday for 3 hours followed by an hour of cultural arts elective for 9 years. And I "hated" my parents every Sunday when we had to go, but am so thankful for it now. Another one of those things when your parents tell you "you'll thank me for it later". Hate when they're right. Ha.

We went to a couple of week-long overnight camps and visits to our grandmother's. There were occassional visits to the pool and other fun activities. Besides that, most of our summers involved "working" on our family farm. There are no child labor laws on family farms 
I hated living on a farm for that reason but now I appreciate the work ethic I learned.

Yeah, we had a lazy summer and it was great! Sometimes boring but definitely lazy. I loved sleeping in and playing over at friends' houses.
