I'll go first! I have three spaces I am working on:
DD "Big Girl Room"
Basement Exercise Room
Back Hall/Mudroom
Back Hall Mudroom is the smallest project: Install beadboard wall paper, trim it with molding, mount two old grocery boxes for collecting things (hats/mittens/etc) and finish with a bench and some pillows. I just need the bench and pillow fabric. Then the time to do it all! Target completion: 9/30
Exercise Room: A bit bigger project. We finished our basement last winter and have a large unfinished space for storage - part of it (approx 11 x 13) is kind of separate but right next to the furnance - so I had the guy wall it off and install a door while doing the rest of the basement. Now I need to empty the space (basement clutter!!!), clean it, install rubber flooring, paint the walls and paint the storage cubbie I got for free. Target Completion: 8/30
DD Big Girl Room: So much to do here. I got a hand-me-down toddler bed that needs painting. I am making DD an armoir for her dress up clothes (must be done by 9/1 for her birthday party). I am also planning to make her an "artist" corner and a reading nook. Lastly, once I get her bed painted and ready I want to make her a matching dolly bed. I am hoping to move her in to her big girl room in October - so we'll make the due date for this 10/31!
So much to do - but I love DIY projects!

All of my projects are baby related. I have a goal of having everything finished before Labor Day.
Here's what was on my list when I started:
-paint nursery
-sew quilt
-sew curtains
-build crib
-build shelves http://ana-white.com/2010/10/plans/ten-dollar-ledges
-make growth chart http://www.killerbdesigns.com/ruler-growth-chart/
So far I've painted the nursery, made the quilt, and sewn the curtains. My DH and I are almost finished with the crib. It should be assembled in the room Sunday or Monday. I want to do the shelves next and the growth chart last. Both of those are one day projects, so I should definitely meet my deadline despite being pretty busy this summer.

@Mrs D: Your DD's big girl room sounds awesome. You'll have to share pics!

@Mrs. Pickle: Nice list - totally doable by Labor Day! FYI - have you seen the shelves at Ikea? I was going to build some for my reading nook until I found these cheap ones at Ikea!

I'm gearing up to paint/stain my kitchen cabinets. I'm painting the uppers a creamy white, and I'm not sure if I will stain my lowers darker or also paint them white. Kind of like this inspiration picture. We have a similar countertop and oak floors, and our current cabinets are oak stock cabinets. I am thinking about using chrome hardware though.

@Mrs D: yes! I would buy them instead, but I want them 60" in length. I think they might not fill the wall enough otherwise. I might change my mind once I get the piece of furniture that's going to sit under them from my mom.

@avivoca: I saw that picture and as I read your post I was thinking "I'll kill her if she is going to mess with that kitchen" its gorgeous! Have you thought about that pretty grey or dusty blue I see them painting cabinets all the time now?

We just put up wainscoting in our hallway. I put up the newspaper last night to figure out placement for the frames. I am going to have to buy more frames. I need to play with it more.
We got tile over the weekend and are re-doing the hall bath. Subway tile in the tub area. DH is going to a cut out shelf. The back of that will have the marble hexagon tile to match the floor. We also got a marble pencil trim to finish out the tub area. I think it will look really nice. The other walls have tile now(painted white but Harvest gold tile originally), going to put up bead board. Paint the walls a dark blue/grey. I am looking for a new vanity, medicine cabinet, and light.

@Mrs D: There is so much blue in our house and I'm not fond of grey. Our kitchen is already blue, the living room, hallway, bathroom, H's room, and the master bedroom are already shades of blue (in case you couldn't tell, we like blue).
ETA: I'm going to repaint the kitchen at some point too, probably to a lighter blue. My living room is Palladian Blue by BM, so I may do that or a lighter blue since the room is dark.

@Smurfette: that is so smart using newspaper! I wanted to do a small gallery above our bed and was trying to lay out frames on the floor - what a mess!

@Smurfette: This picture makes me so badly want to do a collage in our upstairs hallway. DH is weird and claims its too busy for him - but I was planning to do frames with large mattings so there was still lots of plain space. Jealous!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs D: That is what I am doing. We already had frames but they weren't all the same and stopped selling them. So I went to Michael's and bought nice ones with mats and they all are the same. They were buy one get one free.

@avivoca: I had the same thought as @Mrs.D: lol. I love the kitchen Tuxedo look. We have palladium blue in our master- gorgeous!
@Smurfette: where are you going for frames? I lucked up at Joanns the other day during a frame Sale plus additional coupon, but still so expensive.
My projects are pretty small: hang a pair of Anthropology towel hooks in the guest bath and hang the shower curtain from a higher point in the room. I'll need a new curtain too. Put artwork up that's been leaning on the floor and tabletops too long.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Michael's. They were buy one get one free. I have to get some more so hopefully they are on sale again soon. I had a Michael's gift card I got for Christmas so that paid for a big chunk.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I'm loving it too! I hope it's not too progressive for my neighborhood lol, but it's got to be better than what it currently looks like (below). I also love Palladian Blue! I think it will look good in there, especially after I lighten up the uppers. Excuse the mess, I'm still cleaning them out.

@avivoca: I love those cabinets!
@avivoca: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: my master is also Palladian Blue. It's one of my favorite paint colors!

We painted our guest room for DS' big boy room, redid his floors, and I sewed curtains. Currently, we are working on turning our office into a playroom/mudroom. I need to make cushions/pillows/curtains for the window/window seat in there.

@Mrs. Pickle: I did a similar growth chart, but just black tick marks and numbers. It's hung, but not quite finished. I need to finish it up before another birthday comes around.

@avivoca: I can't wait to see your after when it's all set. Any plans to add molding too?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I'm thinking about it. I am definitely going to paint the soffit the same color as the cabinets to fool the eye into thinking they go to the ceiling, and I may remove the header piece from over the sink because I feel like it blocks so much light. There is a horrible florescent light hiding up there, and I'd like to have it changed out for either a pendant or a can light. If I had the time/muscles, I'd unscrew all the cabinets/hood and move them forward an inch so they would line up with the edge of the soffit.

Can DIY be "pay someone because my husband is workaholic?" If so Francisco, our handy man is doing the following:
- Painting family room
- Finishing powder room on main floor (new tile, sink, wainscoting and wallpaper)
- Paint Living room
- Hang new chandelier in foyer
- Woodwork that goes up our 2 story foyer
- Change part of storage space in basement into guest bedroom
- Turn guest bedroom upstairs to Reading Room for kids with teepee, etc..
Sooo excited to get these projects done.

@Smurfette: Love this!!! Have you seen our portrait hall I posted on IG. It's seriously my favorite place in our house.

We finished DS's big boy room about a month ago and tackled removing wallpaper from our office and painting it last week. I'm working in it right now, but we still have to get a couch for in here and hang all of our decor back up. The two bedrooms were our DIY projects of the summer!
The last big project that we're doing before baby comes is clearing out an area in our back yard that we share with our neighbor and getting sod put in. That's being done by a landscaping company though rather than it being DIY.

We bought a house this spring, so we've got lots of projects this summer!
Refinish church pew - DH bought a pew from the church we were married as a wedding gift for me. Now that we finally have room for it, he stripped and stained it to go in our entry hall.
Hang curtains - We bought curtains from Anthro for the family room but hadn't gotten around to hanging them until last weekend.
Sand/paint end tables - We inherited a pair of end tables from my grandmother. They're in desperate need of TLC. I need to see if the current, chippy, 50 year old paint has lead before we get started, but then we're painting them. Maybe navy?
Make a growth chart for DD1's room
Make curtains/crib skirt for DD2's room
Finish making DD2's Christmas stocking - this is my road trip activity for the summer!

I want to do a gallery wall up one of the staircases, and clear out "the abyss" (our spare room that is literally hoarder-filled with all the shit left over from our wedding, projects, old decorating, and random other things we didn't want in the rest of our house. It is like Monica's secret closet in Friends).

@BandDmommy: Before this most recent move, my husband's hours were terrible too. It's nice to finally be able to do some of these projects as labors of love now, but before, he used to joke that "I'm really handy...handy with a checkbook"
eggplant / 11824 posts
@BandDmommy: anything I don't personally do is done by our handyman too - DH is many wonderful things, handy is not one of them.
I finished one project already - low stone border around front flower beds, and we put in 4 white hydrangeas.
I want to spiff up our mudroom. We have a nice bench, but I want to either so fake wainscoting or beadboard wallpaper, large mirror and some storage on the walls for coats, winter stuff, etc.
Add to the gallery wall.
ETA: we're getting porch railing done this summer too, but that's not DIY.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @Mrs. Pickle: @Mrs D:
Here's the cabinets after a coat of primer and one coat of paint. It's already so much brighter in there now that the top is lightened up and I can't believe how much taller the ceilings feel.

@avivoca: I'm obsessed with how this turned out, we have close to the same color cabinets and I want so badly to redo them. What color is your trim in yore house? we have this same color trim and I've been scared to stain/paint the cupboards and make it seem "off"
watermelon / 14467 posts
@LuLu Mom: Our trim is Chantilly Lace by BM. It's definitely a cleaner, clearer white. The cabinets are more of an antique white, so it is a nice contrast.
ETA: I don't think it would be a bad contrast. I like a variety of wood tones playing nicely together.

@avivoca: LOVE the look - so clean and YES so much bigger!
@Smurfette: This looks SO good - I love all the different sizes!

@avivoca: this is looking so good already! Love it!
@Smurfette: this is inspiring me to get some family photos up!
We've finished the church pew and hung our curtains! Those end tables are next, I think.

@Smurfette: Thanks! We'd never stained anything, so it was a learning experience. We didn't love our first method, but we started on the back and figured it out before the second coat I'm glad to finally have a place to put it out! And clearly, it's helpful for corralling kids' shoes, ha.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@avivoca: it looks great!
@Smurfette: I love your frames. Where did you get them?
@rattles: I love the curtain fabric!
We finished the crib and put it in the nursery. I found some places I need to touch up before we get the mattress. I'm going to pick up a piece of wood for the growth chart this week. I'm ready to be done working in my garage. It's too hot! I decided that the size of the IKEA shelves will work just fine so I'm buying those instead of making them.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: Michael's! They were buy one get one free. The crib looks great! My Dad made us a growth chart, I love it!

I just painted our entire new house. Every single wall, and closet, was pink. Shades of rosy pink. Dark pink. Light pink. You name it, we had it. I painted it all the same colour a really light (almost too light, but I honestly can't complain because it is so much better) greige. We replaced a couple light fixtures and replaced almost all of the light switches and plugs to white, from beige switches/plugs and chrome plates.
I need to:
- replace bathroom sinks with arborite and a new sink/faucets.
- finish a few closets from pink to "other".
- replace kitchen sink faucet.
- paint kitchen cabinets! @avivoca: I reeeeeally love your inspiration pic! I just pinned it!
- put up a couple gallery walls and spray paint all my collected frames black.
I have a LOT to do in this house. Which will all happen eventually since I can't afford to do it all at once. My mom and I will do the bathroom counters/sinks. This house is almost overwhelming with DIY updates, but I'm looking forward to the challenge!
I have pics but they aren't on this computer. I'll see if I can get some in here!
