My sister just had a baby and we are going to see her tomorrow. I want to bring a meal but not one where they have to have their oven on for a while.

What about bringing some chicken salad and good bread and some salad greens. They can make sandwiches or throw the chicken salad over the green and have a healthy dinner.

I would do a salad or pasta salad topped with chilled grilled chicken, and a bowl of cut up fruit for dessert/breakfast/snacks. You can add lots of ingredients to the salad to make it more filling but nothing has to be heated once it's at her house.

I had a summer baby and loved it when we got taco salad. Easy to reheat the meat and everything else was cold. Plus my toddler would eat most of the parts.
Fruit was really nice but we got a TON of watermelon because it was in season. Literally every person who brought us food also brought watermelon. So maybe bring some special fruit (cherries etc) or fruit salad.

A roaster chicken, salad with already chopped veggies, cut up fruit, muffins were the top favorite things I got when I had baby #2 in may.

A quiche with a green salad. Cold cuts, cheese, and bread for sandwiches with a side of fruit. Pasta salad made with tortellini. And I'll second the taco salad - cook the meat before you bring it over and have a bunch of different topping options.

I might do "nicer" fruit like cubed pineapples and strawberries, but if that's too acidic, grapes, ripe melons, a bunch of bananas, and pears work.
I like to do cooked rice and chicken stirfry or coconut milk chicken curry with non-gassy veg. I like picking things that are milder and easy to reheat and don't have really irritating foods in it like tomatoes or hot spices or dairy.
Alternatively, a quinoa tabbouleh with chopped rotisserie chicken would be a great all in one meal, with hummus and veggie dippers and pita chips. But it has tomatoes and acid from lemon juice.
If it's a family that doesn't like ethnic food (like my inlaws) I would do a pan roasted honey mustard chicken with green beans almondine and a rice pilaf or a tub of mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes from the store.
I also am a huge fan of taking things for breakfast or lunch or snacks - I.e. not dinner. I like taking a loaf of banana or zuke bread, hard boiled eggs, and dry sandwiches (just meat and bread and cheese if dairy is okay) or a sandwich friendly salad (egg, tuna, chickpea, or chicken salads) with a box of croissants.

I'd take baked stuff anytime especially right post baby when honestly calories are not so much on my mind! But also, salads, takeout.. I don't want to even look at my oven the first week or two postpartum. Wraps, she could eat the second half later if it's too big to finish and one that can be cold sounds good! Or pasta because it's easy to microwave the leftovers.
And the taco salad and muffins mentioned above sound great!

Either grilled or Rotisserie chicken, cleaned organic lettuce, homemade salad dressing, and dessert. And then I will also bring a dozen bagels, sliced and ready to freeze!

I usually do tacos where all they need to do is heat up the meat and then they can make their tacos or taco salads any way they want. I also like to bring breakfast. I will make an egg casserole so that they can reheat a portion.
