@Vegmama: very interesting read! It's seems like quite a few, if not the majority of women, have embraced American parenting??? I'm not from the US and my mom always remarks that I get too absorbed by parenting decisions (like agonizing over what should be LO's first food) when we have a much more relaxed approach back home.

That was a nice read. I feel like a lot of the mom articles comparing cultures just say american moms suck. This one seemed to focus more on differences than saying being an American is going to make your child suck at life. My husband's family is French so we go to visit and there's lots of children my kids age and there's definitely a lot of differences in parenting but I don't think one way's cut and dry a better way. I usually end up thinking my kids are better behaved even with major jet lag

@shopaholic: I saw this on a parenting website a while back. How refreshing and amazing it would be to not worry about baby snatchers and just let them sleep outside. So cool but hard to believe too.

@Vegmama: @Kimberlybee: oh no no no no. lol! The American in me worries about kidnappers and other baby snatchers. The Asian in me worries about the cold, draft/wind, and/or sun! So too many levels of worry for me.

@Kimberlybee: That picture just blows my mind. I never even considered leaving my baby outside of our house to nap, much less outside a cafe - and we live out in the country, so it's not like anyone is going to come around!!

Ha! Yeah this is pretty accurate. I feel like all the ways that America didnt parent were exactly how my parents generation of parenting was. My parents laugh when we implement all of these rules. Interesting how it seemed to really change in such a short period of time.

@mrs.shinerbock: that could be it. I'd be more worried about a gone baby gone situation than a dog bite if I left my kid unattended in a stroller on the sidewalk. We also have a lot of people with untreated mental illness and we still have a love affair with guns.

I love this series from Cup of Jo! In a way, these cultural differences are my life because my husband grew up in another country and we both end up doing a lot of compromising because our cultural parenting styles are SO DIFFERENT in ways I didn't understand till we actually had LO.

@Vegmama: I agree that this article was positive. I meant that other articles that had been floating around previously like why French moms are superior or Spanish moms are better, articles like that. This blog seem to take a more positive tone I was trying to compliment it.
