I had my baby 4 weeks ago and they still swaddled in the hospital. We swaddle for night time sleep but not for all naps. LO wakes up to eat and has gained a pound a week so certainly no issues with missing hunger cues or not gaining weight. We use swaddles not blankets so I'm not worried about blankets coming loose.
@Mrs. Tiger: Me too! I was just thinking that.

The nurses swaddled DD in receiving blankets at the hospital. They recommended parents use Velcro swaddles instead because parents can't usually get the blankets tight enough and babies can work the blankets over their faces. We used swaddlemes until DD started rolling over a few days ago. We didn't have any issues missing feeding cues and she slept well in her swaddles.
