@mrbee: as I stated: the US may stay and try to rebuild the country's government in a way that will benefit the US. Now, the Arab countries, because there are conflicts of interest (they have symbiotic relationships) will have to risk upsetting the US, but at least they would be a better option because they will not try to implement their beliefs into Syria.

***Lets be real, the US is not likely to help any people in their endeavors to build an Islamic government.***

And, my opinion is not only based on what The US tells me, but it is a compliation. I add in what I hear first hand, from family living there and having lived there, and hearing the side of the news that they don't air in the US.

That all being said: at this point, it is so ugly over there, that I just want the killing to stop, one way or another. Ideally, I hope the killings stop *without* compromising the Syrian people's wishes.

I'd be very hesitant to become involved militarily, but something needs to be done. I've seen the graphic images of things like dead children, chemical burns, mass graves, and I don't see how anyone could look at that and not think we should help somehow. So yes, absolutely, send humanitarian aid. I would even say we should welcome refugees into the US, just get innocent people out of there.

ETA: I also wish that our politicians could let go of their extreme partisanship for once to try to come together and make the best decision. Sadly I already see a lot if political posturing over this issue and it just drives me crazy because its obviously very sensitive. Now is not the time for petty partisan bickering. Ugh.

@MrsSCB: as far as welcoming people, I'd say the US is doing an alright job already, thank goodness! Many, many Syrian people have been granted Asylum & I agree: I wish political games could be set aside for the sake of these people dying in the 1000s.
@rachiecakes: thank you:) same to your friends

@TurtleDoves: I'm glad to hear that! I hope we accept pretty much anyone who wants to come here, and I'd be happy if we helped them get here as well. It's such a heartbreaking situation, and I hope your family and friends stay safe.

@TurtleDoves: Arab country's intervening never crossed my mind. The US as the world's only police and moral compass to combat human crisis has been ingrained in my head. But yes! Syria's neighbors have some skin in the game and should intervene.

Turtle Doves & @rachiecakes: hoping both of your loved ones stay safe, ladies.
