My kids will be 9 and 7 when we're planning to go to Hawaii in Feb. Pearl Harbor is one of two places my dad wants to go on the trip and I'm trying to decide if it makes sense to take the kids.
Has anyone taken kids this age to Pearl Harbor? I remember finding it fascinating as a teen but even at that age my travel companions had trouble not goofing off during the visit. DH's grandfather survived Pearl Harbor so I imagine it will be a pretty impactful place for him. I'd love to share the history and family connection with the kids but I can only picture it being a really high stress day where I want the kids to be on their best behavior and connect with history... and they're just (tired, bored).... kids.
Everything I've read online makes it sound like Pearl Harbor is doable with kids. Am I being overly negative?
