I want to take LO to the drive in so that DH and I can see a movie, but we have to find a movie that we want to see on a night when he doesn't have to work the next day and we don't have to be at church early.
I have a friend with a 7 week old, and they've gone to several movies already.

LO went to her first movie at 6 weeks old. But it was a special cry baby matinee so it was all mommies and babies

She's 18 months and has absolutely no interest in tv. So it will be awhile.

@highwire: One of the movie theatres where we lived when DD was born did those too. I never got around to going, and then we moved away. It sounded fun though!

It will be several years, I think. I dont generally think small children belong in movie theatres and I dont think the super loud sound system is good for their ears.

I've gone to something local called 'Stars and Strollers' where on a Wednesdays at 1pm the local theater shows a movie with the sound turned down, the lights left on a little and it's for parents with little ones. She's been twice (Once with me, once with DH). Both times it was a grown up movie that she didn't really watch.

DS was 2, it was a short movie (Winnie the Pooh, 50 minutes) and he did really well! He didn't get up once.

My LO was 8 days old when I took him to the movies for the first time! I had to go see the latest Twilight movie and he didn't stay put in my belly long enough to see it on opening night, so we went to see it during a "Stars N Strollers" performance (baby friendly movie theater) the same week it opened. And we have been to several other movies since then.
I did take him to see the Hobbit with DH at a non-baby theatre showing and we found it to be too loud so i will wait a while before I do that again.
ETA: I can't say when I will take him to a movie where I actually want to sit and enjoy the whole thing. When I saw the Hobbit with DH, I offered to take care of LO (feed, change, console) as needed so DH could enjoy the movie. And during the Stars N Strollers performance, I am doing all those things too, only it's acceptable if he cries in that theater and they have a change table in the theatre so we don't have to go and miss the movie.
