We only went on two vacations when I was young and they were not the same.

We definitely do not plan on taking our kids on the same vacation every year. But we will always go visit my family often.

ETA: there was a quite a few years during DH childhood where they stayed at the same exact hotel in St Petersburg every summer. We plan on taking the kids one summer just for nostalgia! It's still there and has been updated. LOL

Maybe we'll have one beach spot we go to each year for a long weekend but for our big trips I'd prefer to mix it up.

We did, yup. Went went on a fishing trip every year to the same lake in Canada. I think it's cool! We always loved all the stops along the way, like swimming in the same waterfall.

As for us, I'm not sure if we'll take the same trip each year. I like traditions.

We had the same campground that we went to 3-4 times a year with a variety of family and friends. However, we also took a ton of regional trips that were different all the time.

My kids are 5 and 3 and so far, I love taking them to the same place (Williamsburg, VA) for the last 2 years. We rent a timeshare (2 bed/2 bath) and spend 5-7 days there, just swimming, going out to eat, going to the beach (Yorktown), and relaxing. We are going again in two weeks!

Besides Williamsburg, we also take them on a big trip, preferably new location. Last year was Disney World (although that wasn't new) and this year will be California.

I have such awesome memories as a kid of going to the same cottage every summer for two weeks. We went on other "bigger" trips, too, but those cottage weeks were my favourite. I definitely plan on creating the same sort of memories with my own kids!

We'll plan on doing a week of vacationing at the same beach house with extended family every year, and then probably another week exploring a different place each year. Best of both worlds!

We did a week long beach trip every year, plus a long weekend to different places every year (DC, Baltimore, etc).

We've just started the week long beach trips and hope it continues yearly. This was year #2!

We visited my grandparents in Florida and it was so much fun. I have a lot of memories of those trips. I guess we kind of do the same thing but my parents are not too far away so we go there several times a year. We stay over for a week+ during the summer while my sisters and their families visit so I hope all the kids have fun memories of that. It is kind of like a vacation because there is a pool and they are really close to the beach but we have neither.

I could see doing a small trip to the same place each year, like a close by camping spot. But I definitely have no interest in "wasting" a chance to see somewhere new, and DH feels the same! He's already planning the places he wants to take LO. (He loves to plan!)

Though now that I think about it, his job has us move a lot. So it probably won't make sense to go to the same place no matter what, since what might be a 3 hour drive this year could be a 12 hour flight next year.

I think while the kids are young, it's easiest to go to the Jersey shore or to Ocean City, MD. We went to MD a lot as kids, and once we started to get older, we started taking trips to other locations which was a lot of fun. But I do still remember our MD trips as my favorite.

We've started a Jersey shore tradition where we're going to a few of the different shore points, and I love it. We'll see what we do moving forward.

Interesting! My parents were the polar opposite of this - they always took me somewhere new for vacations. Even camping. When I was little we started going to the state parks closest to us but over the years we had to keep going further and further to go to a new places, so I'm pretty sure I've been to every state park within a 3 hour drive of my dad's home. Vacations were all over the US and to several international locations as well, I don't think any were ever repeated.

The only place I went consistently was to visit family, which did include some vacationy type places like my aunt/uncles lake house and my great-grandmother's condo in Fort Lauderdale. So those are like repeat vacation spots. We still visit my aunt/uncle every summer at the lake (we're going in 2 weeks!). And we're actually planning to go Fort Lauderdale (my grandmother inherited the condo when Granny passed years ago) during our FMLA overlap when baby is around 10 weeks old!

My husband's family basically did a long weekend trip to local state parks every summer and a big ski trip every winter while he was growing up. I think they went to all different places, but there was some minimal overlap.

As adults we generally go to different places for vacations, so I imagine we'll do the same once a kid is here. We may have a "regular" place for short weekend trips, but for big trips, we'll likely want to try new places. And, of course, we'll keep visiting family, which will be a regular thing.

We go on a family beach trip to NC every summer, although as of this summer every other year we're picking a new non-beach spot (this year it's a lake house in Northern PA).

I'd love to travel to different places, but I just don't get that much leave (and with my job I can't take unpaid leave except under special circumstances). I'm happy using the time I get to spend time with our family--it's one of the few times a year we're all together. And D and his brothers used to do the same beach trip every year as kids, and they LOVED it and still talk about (and why we started the tradition back up with the new kids).

If we can afford it we might try some small long weekend trips, but it's not something we're prioritizing.

Yes, for both of us. We both love the places we vacationed growing up, but we try to mix it up too. Right now we are mostly going with national parks that are drivable since it's easier for us with small kids.

We do about 3 trips a year, and I assume we will revisit some every few years, but aside from visiting grandparents, I don't see us doing the same vacation very frequently.

Growing up we always went to a lake 6 hours away 3 times during the summer. We had a houseboat. Hmm, not sure what we will do now. We do go to my parents cabin several times a year. And then we usually hit up LA once a year and Minnesota. But I would like to add in other places too. Vacations are so great!

We went to a resort last summer and a lot of the families were repeat visitors. Many of the kids had known each other for a few years. I think it's nice to have that kind of consistency for little ones, and we have vague plans to maybe go back this summer if someone can help me watch the kids. Of course we'd love to see new places too, but that'll wait... for a toddler, just being able to run around and find bugs is plenty entertaining.

Growing up we always went to the same mountain town. We loved it and have the best memories there. We still go there every summer now that we are grown with our own kids because we love it so much. It just feels like a second home.

We usually tried to always seek out new places! There were a couple we went to multiple times, and visiting family was always something we did repeatedly, of course.
