LO is the same age and we have the same issues! Some days I am just hanging in there.

I highly recommend reading a book on how to deal with toddler tantrums. Though there's little time you can get some great tips even from blog posts on the web. I started just counting to ten and repeatedly reminding her that at 10 we are going home or whatever it is and after a while it made transitions sooooo much easier. Just one or two tools like this that work for your kid can make life much easier tho it doesn't always work 100%. Also I found that her tantrums were worse at that age and have lessened only a few months later now she can communicate slightly better. Of course it's not permanent and every baby is different but don't lose hope! Also with DD I find the word "no" is a trigger and it's better for her if I tell her what we need to do next instead of telling her no she can't do that anymore. "No" puts her in stand off mode/battle ready, so I try to avoid it unless its absolutely necessary like she is about to do something unsafe. Hope u find some relief soon!

We're there too it was worse a month ago, we seem to be in a better phase right now, and then I'm expecting it to get bad again soon

18-22ish months was definitely the worst time for us so far- my DD sounds very similar to yours, very stubborn / just would get sooo worked up over things and become a demon child.

I just wanted to let you know, for us at least it has gotten SO much better now that she can talk / tell us what she wants. She also now understands timeouts so if she is throwing a fit we can discipline her, whereas when she was younger she just didn't understand what was going on. She's 26 months now and it is like night and day and we actually enjoy her again Hang in there, toddlers are just crazy!

Yes, sounds normal. My almost 19 month year old is pretty feisty these days.

Totally normal! We had this going on around 19 months too. On top of that, I hadn't been well and I think B was picking up on it and getting upset. It slowly got better and in a few months, the tantrums were much easier to defuse. I hope this is a short phase for you... hang in there

No advice here, just sympathy. My DS is 15.5 months but has been doing this for months now. He is very strong willed and stubborn so it's pretty much impossible to redirect him sometimes. Especially in public because he just wants to run around. I made the mistake of letting him out of the stroller at the mall last week and it was a nightmare. He also does the back arching thing and now he's taken up the lovely habit of pounding his head on the floor when I won't let him do something. Ugh.
