Okay, so I've heard all about the terrible two's.... but can anyone please help me out with this whole new world of pain, that is 18+ months?
Georgia is a gorgeous kid, such a sweet girl - but SO stubborn. She's into everything now (a nice change, since she was a late walker) but that means MAJOR tantrums if we take her away or try to distract her from what she wants to do. We're trying to gently reinforce words like 'no' (and alternatives) and she just screams, throws herself to the floor, proper helicopter breakdancing moves. Sometimes she gets herself super worked up.
She's only speaking certain words, certainly not able to communicate in huge sentences or anything - though she does understand us for some things, I'm sure of it. Is this just part of an in-between age for her? I feel like a shocking parent some days.
K just turned 20 months and the increase of tantrums, stubbornness, and frustration has just increased every month since 16 months. I had to laugh in pain and commiseration at your comment "world of pain." 1/2 the parents I talk to tell me it improves drastically once they're close to 2 and can communicate more. Then the other half [maybe truthfully?] tell me that didn't happen for them till 3.
it was worse a month ago, we seem to be in a better phase right now, and then I'm expecting it to get bad again soon
