I love the names Adrienne for a girl and Julien for a boy but this year both have been ruined by two incredibly frustrating kids that DH is currently teaching.

Oh man, so many. I've taught at a girls school for the last 8 years, and I'm SO glad my first was a boy!
Names I would NEVER use for a girl:
Any variation of Bella: Isabella, Arabella, Annabella, Bella
Any variation of Maddison
Scarlett, Charlotte, Ava, Eva

For us teachers, the naming struggle is real! I've never had a student who shares a name with my son:-).

My list:
Luka (and Lucas as a result, which I really liked previously!)

Ava (not a bad kid-association but I taught SO many of them-too popular!)

Also Willow, and Victoria. Shame cause Victoria used to be my all time favourite girls name. A little Year 8 bitch put paid to that

DH and I are both teachers, but his list is very long and mine is very short. The only name we agree on NEVER naming our child is Malik.....we have had 3 in the past 6 years and they all were so difficult!!!

On the other hand, one of my most infamous students was named Jazmine, but I still love the name (spelled with an s, though, of course.)

Andrew. Most of the others are names that I wouldn't use due to cultural differences. But I could never, ever name an Andrew.

Luckily I didn't LOVE any of those names anyway. I had a difficult student named Morgan, but we are still going to use that as a middle name if my LO is a girl because it's a family name on DH's side.

@erinpye: yes, not horrible kids. Just horrible repeated behaviors over specific time period that leave a traumatic lasting impression affecting your future perceptions and decisions. Point taken though!

@808love: Exactly! We as teachers know that every student has the potential to be AMAZING. Sometimes it just doesn't fully happen in the way we want it to. I wish each of my students the very best. It doesn't erase the bad memories or frustration though.

So many names never made it to my list because of past/ current kiddos. But Isabelle had to be taken off.

I actually really love the name of one of my most difficult students (I think he has helped me to like it more). I only wouldn't use it because he is a current student - I feel like that would be weird.

Damien. I am surprised at how many of those I have come across.... also Tyler, Brayden ( and like said above it's many spellings & rhyming names ) Madison, Mackenize ( or any of it's short forms) pretty much any girl "k" name ( other then Kate/Katherine - those were always okay )

There are about a million more but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I have the exact opposite experience. I substituted for a little girl (2nd grade) and accidentally read her name "Sophia" and she was so cute in correcting me. I tossed the name in the ring when we found out we were expecting, DH liked it and so we have a Sophie

I can't even remember the names of the students that were less than stellar students. The only names I stay away from are adults who left a bad impression.
