R's first tooth broke out today. I have a couple questions.
1) How long when your LO's teeth first made an appearance till it was fully in?
2) What else did you do to help LO to feel more comfortable?
3) Any idea on how I can get her to sleep better? Nap and night have all gone to the crapper. I know she is exhausted.

We're not there yet(!) . . . but I think one is on its way! I finally broke down last night and gave LO some Tylenol before her bath (so that (1) she would forget about the awful meds once I put her in the rub a dub tub, and (2) to give the Tylenol time to kick in). Last night was the first night in over 2 weeks that she stayed asleep without waking frequently (and she slept 11 hours) . . . and tonight, she actually fell asleep while I was nursing her (hasn't happened in a few weeks) and didn't cry when I put her in her crib.

1) I don't remember exactly, but a few weeks?
2) I lucked out with a good teether, but I think people use teething tablets. Tylenol if she has a temperature.. stuff to chew on!
3) Sorry, no advice.

@Smurfette: I have read that you can wet a washcloth and then put it in the freezer . . . the cold will help to numb her gums.

1. A few weeks?
2. Our pediatrician recommended ibuprofen (after 6 or 12 months, can't remember) because it helps with inflammation. I've only resorted to that twice, but otherwise I give her Hyland's teething tablets. I also give her teething rings/toys, but she prefers to gnaw on her fingers.
3. Not much advice, sorry, I just sit with her in the glider and snuggle after giving her the tablets. Good luck!

A couple weeks, though this last one took a month!
I have used Tylenol when she is miserable, hylands when it's uncomfortable.
I will also give her a mesh feeder stuffed with frozen breast milk. That's my secret weapon.

@MsLipGloss: I can't believe we are getting one already. I gave her some Hylands teething tablets tonight. She keeps waking up every 3 hours and has for a couple weeks now all that sleep training down the drain. She took one 50 min all day at day care. She is so tired she falls asleep nursing. I put a washcloth in her mouth when she first got in the tub but she didn't want it.

The FDA recalled the Hyland's teething tablets in 2010 . . . not sure if they are safe or not now . . .

@Smurfette: It seems to take forever (weeks) for them to come all the way up but M is MUCH more comfortable after they have popped through the gums. I hope the worst is over for this tooth!
I give cold things to chew on during the day (teethers that go in the freezer, frozen washcloths, frozen fruit). I give her Tylenol if she wakes up crying at night and I know she's teething. It seems to help - she's always gone back to sleep after that dose.

1. It took about two weeks from when I first saw something til they had cut through.
2. We used boiron Camilla and a teething necklace, and tylenol/Motrin whe it was really bad.

I didn't know he was teething with the first two that popped up at 4.5 months.
We went through about 10 days of horrible/no napping with the top FOUR that cut at the same time around 7/5 months!
We tried hyland's gel and tablets and tylenol when he had a low fever.
Nothing helped but timeeeeeeeeeeeeee
may buy an amber teething necklace.

@Smurfette: I feel like it took awhile for the tooth to show all the way. We gave him lots of teething toys and if it got bad a dose of advil before bed.

@Smurfette: Awwww. I'm sorry! I hope it gets better soon. FWIW, my LO is having a tough time tonight too. And she woke up this morning just before 4 a.m. (and didn't go back down until 5:30). It's so hard to know that they're struggling!

It only took a couple days to a week once her tooth cut. She was only miserable the night it was actually cutting thru though. We did Tylenol, ibuprofen (after 6m), hyland's teething tablets, boiron Camilla - depending on how bad she was.

@Smurfette: also my ped said when taken as directed Tylenol and ibuprofen are perfectly safe. Tylenol works faster but only lasts 4-6 hours, ibuprofen lasts 6-8 but takes longer to kick in. I find we get better results w baby Motrin!

Urg, she woke up an hour and 45 mins after going to bed. That is with Tylenol. She had 3 hours of naps too. I know she is tired but she won't stay asleep anymore.........
