Did you buys actual burp cloths or did you used use bibs and receiving blankets as your burp cloth. Also if you did buy burp cloths, where did you get a good deal on them?

I used the cheap old fashioned cloth diapers. I think it depends on your LO if you'll need a lot of them though. LO had reflux so she spit up constantly. Our burp cloths got a lot of use out of them.

We used burp cloths from babies r us... or gerber, I believe. they're just small, terry-like very thin cloths. We probably used those more than ANYTHING else in the beginning! I didn't like using cloth diapers because they're huge. I just wanted something I could bunch up and throw in my pocket or bag.
I did buy cloth diapers because everyone told me I'd need them, but I never used them for anything.
We used burp cloths as bibs in the beginning! Then we did start using bibs. But depending on how much your baby drools and spits up, you can go through several bibs a day. I found it easier to keep a burp cloth lying around for quick mop-ups, even mopping spit up off of his bib to make the bib last just a bit longer.

I used the same as @artbee. LO also had a bit of reflux so we went through a ton of burp cloths at first.

@mrs. wagon: I liked that they were big. It could cover more area on my shoulder and chest so it was more likely to catch whatever LO spit up!

I actually made my own and it was so cheap and easy. I purchased an adorable owl-print flannel from joanns, and some dot minky. I used this pattern: http://naturesheirloom.blogspot.com/2011/07/simple-burp-cloth-tutorial-wfree.html though I made it a little bigger (I just used it as a stencil and drew it bigger)
It was sooo stinkin easy, and cheap. I definitely love the flannel and minky combo the best. I had made some with a cotton knit and don't like it, it's not as absorbent.

I got some from Target that are really thick and seem nice, but the LO isn't here yet, so I haven't actually used them. I think they were like 10$ for 4?

I got a on at my baby shower and they came in very handy. For the first 4-5 months there were a couple in every room of the house.

We bought several packs of cheap, plain white wash cloths from Asda (the same thing as Walmart). I've been using them for wiping up spit up and clean up- they work just fine.

I bought two packs of the gerber premium tri-fold (5 for $12) and then "decorated" them (I monogrammed some, did an applique letter with baby girl's name embroidered on them, and then the rest I just sewed fabric down the middle!)

We got a couple as a gift, but I can never find them when I need them, so usually I just have a few baby washcloths stashed around various areas of the house.
Keeping them within easy reach is very important when you have spitup running down your cleavage!

We still use the prefold cloth diapers, even though DS isn't a spitter anymore. I use them to dry him off after his bath. I use the towel to wrap him up and then dry with the cloth diapers. Got ours at Babies R Us.

Same as artbee. We bought 1 pack of 10, they did the trick and they washed out well.

We used the On the Nile ones, they are really thick and absorbent. I think they're a little pricey but I liked them way better than the thinner ones. They're really soft organic cotton which was good for my son's sensitive skin.
