Our LO, 8 months old, is getting ready to be on the move! We have really put off baby proofing the house but need to give it some serious thought now.

We live in a home that has a landing/loft area at the top of the stairs and I am extremely concerned about how we're going to block this off. The slats in the banister are quite large and we will need to put up some kind of protector (either plexiglass or something like a plastic chicken wire-- both eyesores, of course!) Besides that, I am looking for some ideas on what's absolutely necessary in the beginning, when they start to crawl.
