@wrkbrk: I just got my period back this week after almost 7.5 months. The first few days were particularly gruesome. It's tapered off a lot now. I forgot what my period was like. This one reminded me of it. I'm still breastfeeding right now making up about a fourth of DS #2's calories. The rest is formula.

With my first kid, it came back at 6 weeks postpartum and wasn't too bad. My body hated the mini pill the first time, so I was having periods every two weeks for a few months there, until I got off of it. This time around, my body adjusted better to it and didn't do that.

I thought I was bleeding out. I seriously thought about calling my doctor but apparently it's normal! Like you, it wasn't very painful though. I didn't get mine until 9 months PP when I stopped BFing.

It was like a murder happened in my pants. I thought I was hemorrhaging and called my doctor. I ended up having to get the super plus plus maxi pads AND wear a super tampon to not overflow. I felt so awful, it was painful, and once I ate a huge hamburger, I felt marginally better.

After that, it was much, much better. But I do still feel like I need a steak or a hamburger the first day to help with the iron loss.

i got my first period six months pp. It was beyond heavy. I wore a super plus tampon and pantiliner to bed. And i woke up with blood soaked through to the mattress. I thought I forgot to put a tampon in, but nope, just beyond heavy flow. It took a few months for it to go back completely to normal, but that first one was the heaviest.

I ended up using the postpartum hospital pads when my period came back after lo1 because it was so awful.

It was like a horror movie!

With my first baby my period came back at around 7or 8 weeks I think. It was
An absolute doozy, so much bleeding and pain ugh!!

Waiting (i.e. dreading) the return of my period this time around. Baby is breastfeed and I haven't missed any feeds at all, so wondering when it will return.

@wrkbrk: I called my mom and asked her, and she was all, "yeah, it's normal, it happens to everyone," and I yelled, "WHY DOESN'T ANYONE TELL YOU THIS?!?!?!" Seriously. I had to leave work early it was so bad. I changed my pad before I left and in the 30 minutes it took for me to get to Target my pad was full (it was a regular. HA). I got overnights, but I had to go back the next day and get the super overnight maxi pads because the overnight ultra thins could not contain the flow. And I lived on Motrin to help with the cramps.

Holy moly my first two periods were Horrific. With a capital H. I was going through super plus tampons every hour, I thought I was dying. The third one was way more manageable, thank goodness.

Good lord, I am terrified now to get mine. I'm 16m pp and haven't had one yet.

Horrible the first time around. Soaked a mattress, stained a couch, had to call a plumber because the one ultra tampon I accidentally flushed clogged the pipe. I wanted to melt into the floor, it was so awful. This was with tampons and heavy overnight pads. It was "only" that heavy for two days, but I thought I was hemorrhaging. The second time it wasn't quite as bad. But the first time I felt like her:

My first one after my son was 12 months pp and it was soooo heavy. Only had that one before getting pregnant with my DD. My first one after her was 15 months pp and it was like a normal period if not lighter. I just had my second one pp and it was like a murder scene. Just awful. Soaking through super tampons in like 2 hours. Hoping the next one isn't so bad.
