Has anyone had luck being offered a full time position after a temp position had ended?
I'm going to an interview today for a temp position. The employer indicated there's a possibility of permanent depending on work load. But I'm not optimistic because I was at a temp job over the summer that I was not offered a full time position after the assignment was done.

Not me personally, but a good friend went from temp to permanent position to working overseas because her employer wanted to keep her happy.

My company has annual temps and every year we make offers to some of them.

Yes; at my previous employer I was initially hired as a temp and then when I was hired on as permanent I was hired into a higher position than I was temping at and a much higher salary. Good luck!

@oliviaoblivia: hahaha I know a lot of Canadians come over the border to work in the US. But I don't think I can handle the commute during rush hour. But thank you!

I have a couple times now. It's a pretty popular way to try out an employee and see if they're a good fit.

Yep, my job now (that I've had for five years) started as a temp job. I worked from home and was paid great contractor rates (downside, no benefits obvi) and a couple months later they had me come in for the full time position interviews. And the rest is history! I love my company, my job, my team, and my flex work schedule is a huge benefit to work/life balance!

I haven't, but a friend of mine has had huge success doing this! Every year, she gets a new temp job, then stays on as an employee for a bit.

Not quite the same but I've had clients try and hire me. I worked in professional services firm and worked with multiple clients. A lot of my clients loved me and would ask me to join them. This is very common in accounting.

I was offered a permanent position after a 3 month temp job. I turned it down because I ended up hating the job, but they really wanted me to stay on! It definitely happens.
