So I just had DS a little over a week ago and DD is 3. So far she's been doing as good as could be expected, but of course it's a rough transition, so some acting out and definitely missing having all of mommy/daddy's attention. My parents have been visiting helping, and my husband's been off work. They'll be leaving this weekend, and DH will be going back to work next week as well. My parents offered to take DD with them back home for 11 days, at which point my mom is flying back for another visit anyway so would bring her home.
She's spent lots of time with them, and has been there for a solo visit before.
I'm not sure what to do! On one hand it would be very nice to have some time solo with new baby to adjust, feel better physically, deal with sleep deprivation by taking naps during the day...on the other hand I don't want to make DD feel abandoned/increase jealousy. I don't want her to feel like she's being sent away now that the baby's here! I know she'll get lots of attention there, but maybe she just should stay here and settle into a new normal even if limited mommy time?
I asked her today and she said stay with mommy/baby.
What would you do?
and she LOVES her baby brother, so I'm worried she'll be mad to go even though she always has fun there.
