I really like the political/economic/newsworthy posts @mrbee. This is one of the few places that we seem to be able to have a reasonable discussion about the issues without it being tainted with a bunch of nasty attacks, hurtful language, and emotional outbursts. I love talking about controversial topics but haven't been able to find an outlet in years where we can all be respectful (not even among my friends and family, that's for sure!) So, thank you for starting up the conversation here, where we can all participate and I can actually learn and grow. I appreciate it.

I agree it was a good conversation. I think right now HB is a great place for this as long as everyone understands that we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. I think its good to use terms like USUALLY, SOME, MOST OFTEN, or In my experience to avoid absolutes.

@highwire: Thanks! I try to keep my posts focused on everyone's personal experiences, rather than debating what people think of a major issue. That really helps keep discussions civil!
I am really careful never to post about politics though! That almost never ends well, no matter how it's phrased.

@tequiero21: I usually only ever talk about race as it pertains to my own personal experience. I'm not religious though, so I don't have too much to say about religion that's based on my personal experience!

@tequiero21: @mrbee: I feel like here everyone is and would continue to be very respectful when it came to religions. A belief structure is a very personal and often emotional position - to attack someone's belief system would essentially be attacking them. And I feel that wouldn't be tolerated here - if anyone came in and said anything disrespectful I would feel that all of us would come to their rescue. I think it's a great community and we all have each other's backs
