@dc yoga bee: sounds like it's time to order Chinese takeout!!

Ha! That's ridiculous!

I'll join. My mom called last night to ask me if I mind stopping by to pick up my 80 year old grandmother. Yes, I'm dying to drive 45 minutes out of the way after a 9 hour drive with a toddler (who refuses to sleep in the car) and try to rearrange our luggage to fit my grandmother. When my answer was a little less than enthusiastic, she got pissed. I am the only one coming from out of state! I would have offered pre-baby, but now every minute in the car is torture!

She can't just spring cooking on you last night. Well she can, b ut she's wrong for doing it. I'll pout and stomp for you!!

@dc yoga bee: Oh my, that sounds like such a pleasant surprise! And even from scratch pudding isn't that hard, why would you need to be taught how?

We wound up bailing on Thanksgiving with family and are celebrating with friends. It sounds worse than it is though, we were invited to drive 5+ hours to sleep in a basement rec room with 4 other adults that we are going to see again in three weeks. (Oh yes and we are ttc, that would have been fun!) Due to the hosts schedule we were only going to be there for 24 hours (with the ten-eleven hours of driving on either side) and it is just too much. So no holiday drama here thankfully!

Yeah, that's pretty rude. If I were hosting other people, I would definitely not expect them to bring anything, especially if they traveled as far as you!

My mom called me last Thursday, as I was staring down the end of a 12 hour work day and rushing to the pharmacy before it closed so I could get medicine for my sick daughter, to let me know that she was feeling too tired to do Thanksgiving, and asking if I could do it. Sure, mom. My multiple 12 hour days, parent/teacher conferences, multiple nights of three hours of sleep because of two sick babies (oh yes, both of my 1 year olds have colds) are NOTHING compared to you having to take care of your new puppy. I'm so sorry that you're feeling so run down, let us pack up all of our stuff, come to your house, and cook all of Thanksgiving dinner. What's that? You don't like the way DH cooks pie? So sorry.
