It sounds super gross but your mucous plug can regenerate. So if you lose it some now, it doesn't necessarily indicate labor.

I agree with PPs, it can go on for weeks or be the real deal. For me personally, I started losing my mucous plug exactly one week before I went into labor, and I had my son at 35.5 weeks.

I would just try and get what you need to get done accomplished in the next few days so that you can relax and know you're prepared for whenever baby decides to make his appearance. I agree with PPs that it doesn't necessarily sound like you're going into labor imminently - just that your body is preparing to do so.

mucus plug and bloody show are different - at least, they were for me! I lost my mucus plug roughly 24 hours before delivering. it was...gross. like if you were sick and really got some use out of a tissue.

the bloody show started the next morning (morning, I delivered that night). it was almost like starting a period - not heavy heavy, but bloody discharge.

@jedeve: with my second I was just like you-- baby super low, cowboy walking for weeks (I had to stop working), BH for weeks, so much cramping and pain. I lost my mucous plug in chunks over several weeks, and every day I was hoping it was THE day... but I ended up getting induced at 39 weeks as planned (due to gestational diabetes)! I couldn't believe it! Every day was torture.

@jedeve: good luck! The good news is that once I started my induction she came out really easily I did a LOT of errands and got a manicure and pedicure, and got my hair done, since it was gonna be a while til I could do those things again!

@jedeve: I'm sorry, lady. I was in false/prodromal labor for 4 weeks, and it positively sucks. I got my bloody show about 4 hours before we went to the hospital, by which point I had been having more intense contractions for about 3-4 hours. I showed up in L+D already at a 6. Hope that it is over for you soon!
