I have been blown away by recent revelations that Penn State, the Boy Scouts and possibly the BBC have attempted to sweep allegations of child sexual abuse under the rug.

I guess I don't get it. It would be horrible to oversee an organization that allowed that sort of behavior... but if you try to hide it, aren't you complicit? Not only is there no justice for past victims, but more children could be victimized.

I guess I don't understand why people would try to hide this. If someone told me this happened under my watch, my biggest concern would be that I would march over to the accused person and hang them out a window... which I guess wouldn't be very fair if they were falsely accused.

The Boy Scouts, Penn State, BBC.. anyone else amazed that so many respected institutions have had sexual abuse of children happen under their roofs... and then, tried to hide it?
