Honestly I am killing myself over what I will do for Sienna's 1st birthday party. I was so happy when I found a unique theme for Mavrick's first "vintage newspaper boy" but for a girl it seems like every possible idea has been done and redone.
What will you do? Or what have you seen that was neat?! (i need all the help i can get at this point)

I have been combing your blog looking for ideas for lmw's first birthday!! All I've come up with is that I love Sienna's nursery and I'm dying for a pair of Joyfolie shoes for her. Hehe.

@Mrs. Sunglasses: did you post party pics of "vintage newspaper boy" using a muted color palette on blogs? And the cake had "rags" stlye garland? Bumpsmitten or Hostess with the Mostess maybe? If so, I remember the party!
Just going to throw this out because I always wanted one a Tea Party. My fantasy was a Victorian tea complete with individual tiered trays of finger sandwiches, petit fours and edible flowers. I wanted to drink from mismatched eclectic cups and guests could keep their unique tea cup. Last I wanted to draw/paint outside on easel in the round with pals and create homemade Victorian ornaments.

I had the same problem trying to find something original so I just gave up!! We're going with a simple rainbow theme to keep costs down.
My only other idea was New Orleans French Quarter sort of feel (NOT Mardi Gras) but it was getting too expensive and complicated for me, so I went with Rainbow :S

Okay what about...Animals on Parade? not in the sense of the circus rolling into town, but more of animals are featured. I'm thinking gilded animals (more / girlie/ "A Little Princess" movie India glam) or safari animals (more vintage/ little explorer).

March has pretty decent weather, what about a NATURE theme? Butterflies, dragon flies, bright flowers. Bees & honey (party favor, maybe), magnifying glasses for to spot the littles bugs. Oversize paper flowers. Here's some links.

I know you are a designer, but I think stressing over a 1yo's birthday party is the antithesis of what the day is about. Sienna will love anything you do, you have amazing style.
How about a Sienna-themed party? Make a tablescape with her booties. Have older kids draw pictures of Sienna and/or her favorite animal. Sienna is a color, maybe that can guide the color scheme.
Whatever you do will be great!

@Mrs. Pen: I like the hot air balloon. You could also create a great photo area with a cardboard hotair ballon and cloud background. Serve fluffy things like cotton candy.

After much anguishing last night, I've decided to purchase my dream hanbok (traditional Korean dress) for LMW and design her party around the design of the dress. That will determine my color scheme and everything will be custom designed to match the dress. I'm a traditional kind of person (even though I barely speak Korean and I've never even been to any part of Asia whatsoever!) so I like the idea of sticking to her ethnic roots for her first birthday.
And, like you, I'm already thinking of fun ideas for her 2nd birthday. I agree that cherries would be better for an older girl-- I was actually thinking strawberries for LMW! Hehe.
A lot of Korean American families throw crazy elaborate celebrations for their first birthday parties... some people spend as much as they did on their wedding! You can see a bunch here... Wagon Jr.'s dol was featured on here but obviously we didn't spend as much as some other people!!!
